I am not up to date on the facts but seeing how two are charged with murder I'm guessing something is seriously wrong.
I'm guessing the first two (that were arrested) didn't count on someone showing up with a body cam.

Probably the same asshats who took pictures at the bachelor party.

Since I'm not about to read all 44 pages, can someone please give me cliffs on the motive/back story here?

And can someone tell me where Marksville is so I be sure to never go there?

I posted this earlier- hope it helps.
And where Marksville is...

quote:
Long story short...
Marshals claimed they watched Few leave a bar and tried to pull him over on outstanding warrants. After a chase and cornering him, he put the car in reverse, and the marshals opened fire, killing the 6 year old and seriously wounding Few.
That's the marshals story....
The reality?
Dad's car was not cornered, but stopped at an intersection.
There were no outstanding warrants.
Dad didn't put the car in reverse.
Marshals were possibly out jurisdiction, handing out tickets and enforcing laws without the city council's approval.
No gun was found.
The dad and one of the marshals had beef, and the dad was worried for his life once he saw them coming.
The head marshal for Ward 2 is an uncertified bus driver, and the marshals have refused to issue a report or be interviewed by anyone, including state police.
I am sure I missed a few details but that's basically the gist. You start to get the idea of how bad this is for these marshals.
And where Marksville is...

Yes but the word is that these cops are all very unintelligent. The LSP could tell they were lying well before they ever saw the body cam footage.
LNCHBOX was just absolutely despicable in this thread. It's horrifying to think that he testifies in court.

That was an extraordinary press conference last night. I'm not sure I've seen anything in Louisiana just like that.

I've been saying this for a long time. .... but that isn't the end of the story. You get what you pay for. If you want better cops you have raise the pay along with the standards. The answer? Pay more taxes.

Read the whole thread.
It was a pretty interesting thread watching it evolve as the story did. And pretty predictable.

LSP is playing zero games here. The Col. last night looked pissed, like he was taking this personally. Also, I would really love to hear what the Ward 2 Marshal has to say, you know the one who is a bus driver IRL and isn't qualified to be LEO himself. He has so far refused all interviews from everyone.

Like everything else, right? Narrative first, Truth ...maybe...some time later.

No. We need fewer cops with more of a focus on actual police work and less focus on perpetuating city revenues.

Hey man, Chad Lavalais was from Marksville. It's not all bad. Lol.

Marksville is every small town in louisiana tbh. Not a lot happens there except for the casino

This reads like a mafia trying to shake businesses down.
The police needs fewer boot lickers, fewer cops who defend each other, and more accountability.

This is the answer to the 100 thousand dollar question
We can pay them better, we can train them better, we can do whatever, but until they start having to face the consequences of their actions none of it matters.

Marksville is probably the furthest point north (in LA) which is primarily cajun, and I'm sure there are plenty of native Americans there, since they have a casino there. Tunica tribe, if I recall correctly.
So, rural cajuns, native Americans, a casino (revenue) and a need to have order. There you go...

Or maybe have less police doing things like writing tickets for inspection stickers and over revenue crimes...keep the same amount of money in police and sheriff depts but have a better class of people than are currently on staff.
In other words, shut down small town departments, city marshal jobs, etc. and leave the policing to large town/cities and parish wide sheriff departments.

There's a reservation in town but I don't think the native population is all that big. Lots of people in the parish getting checks for being 1/32nd Tunica or whatever the cutoff is.
It's definitely the northernmost of the cajun towns though. It's night and day..there's a bridge going through Moncla that basically separates Acadiana and WASP louisiana.
The accents change immediately, it's incredible
