This isn't Mark's fault

If same agency was negotiating both deals, then the issue is with the talent agency

I’ve said more than once I don’t think it’s his fault.

But I do think it was a smart move for him to donate the money.

I didn't read the thread

I agree from a tax write-off point

I disagree from a future negotiating standpoint. He is basically admitting that he was overpaid

Yeah... in the grand scheme of things he will make more by doing this.

Why are people getting pissed at Mark Wahlberg?

For that matter, why are people getting pissed at Michelle Williams?

Ridley Scott is the one that started all of this.

Mark donated the money because it’s good PR, and that’s actually something that has a tangible value to public figures. And frankly, $1.5 million isn’t worth this kind of headache and bad press for him. Not to mention the tax breaks he will get from the donation far exceeds the $1k she receives. It’s a win-win for him to make this move

Or protesting that she was underpaid. Regardless, he can still name his price next time.

Irrelevant for this movie. He got the money for the reshoots because he was an exec producer and had co-star approval.

They couldn't switch to Plummer and do the reshoots without his OK so his agents had the production by the balls and squeezed.

That's their job but it won't hurt his future bargaining power. If a movie wants Marky Mark, they have to pay his price.

Something’s telling me he will still be a very highly sought after and paid for actor. Future pictures will see what he did for what it was - a smart PR move.

Yeah, he's getting great feedback in this thread. LULZ

Not as much as $1.5 million

Yes, it certainly is. He's going to be compensated. Don't think for an instant he just tossed aside 1.5mill without telling his agency that he's going to get it back some how. Time is money and he could be spending this time making that money with another venture. He's not doing this for free.

That's not relevant. He's still out all that money.

Let's call this what it is - he's going to get compensated on the back end somehow and he gets to stick it to this bitch Williams by making a donation in her name, rather than renegotiating to up her salary. This stupid woman got taken to the cleaners on her deal and is now being lampooned.

Williams agreed to forego payment for reshoots in her original contract. Marky mark's original contract did not have such provisions. Her agent didn't negotiate 1.5 million for her because he literally couldn't. And she didn't even care about not getting paid as much as mark. This whole story is made up outrage

He is a white, heterosexual male. He will be.

Michelle Williams never made any sort of issue about it.

Take it up with Ridley Scott and whoever went digging from the Hollywood Reporter.

I would have kept the money with 0 remorse. I didn't even know Michelle Williams was still acting.

An actress with a somewhat shitty agent.

Mark Wahlberg is also a much bigger box office draw than Michelle Williams.
