The younger generation will finally sweep that bullshite away. Practically nobody under 40 is anti-pot.

I work in the criminal justice system and I don't know many people who truly believe pot is dangerous. I know many cops, judges, and even assistant DAs who would be ok with legalization. But they aren't passionate enough about the issue to fight for legalization and are content to reluctantly enforce the law.

And the higher-ups in law enforcement, who are older and want the drug war money spigot to continue, are still vehemently against pot. So the Louisiana Sheriff Assoc will not budge an inch on the issue. Facts don't matter. If pot were proven to grant immortality and turn farts into gold dust, it would not matter. And the legislature will meekly obey the Sheriffs.

Agreed with just about everything but building codes. The incidence of structural failure in the US is notably behind other countries that fail to enforce a building code.

Keeping weed in the same class as heroin is absurd. Wasting billions going after petty weed possession/sale is even more absurd.
