What I know is that your most ubiquitous and famous professional organization still supports criminalization.
That article expressly states that the AMA (in 2013) was against the legalization of weed (probably until more studies can be done) but it mentioned nothing about them being against decriminalization, and in fact it states that they think that the war on drugs is a failure and drug policies need a massive overhaul. It mentions that drugs should be dealt with on a health level, not a criminal one. Sounds like they are pro decriminalization if anything.
TL;DR: Rex misreads articles and then posts them as supporting his points of view, when they actually don't.

The main reason most docs even allow Reps in the office is to acquire samples for less fortunate patients.
This is very true. That said, I will have to admit that some of the free lunches I've gotten (or rather that have been shared with me) have been pretty great.

I'm the numb nuts? You can't even spell numb correctly.
And yes second opinions are used for diagnosis. Another doctor mentioned it on the last page. Jesus man get your shite together. You're getting embarrassed out here.

Adderall replaced by marijuana? I dont think that will happen. Adderall has a completely opposite effect. Also, "ADD" thing isn't a thing anymore, as its all classified under the "ADHD" class.
I think marijuana has some very powerful effects, and I know it has had unbelievable results for epileptic folks and children, and absolutely life changing stories. I seriously question whether there is strong medical evidence behind replacing all of those drugs. You also have to take into consideration the side-effects of marijuana, and its different types. Yes, even marijuana has side effects. There's also a strong correlation between marijuana use before the age of 25 and slowed brain development. Its highly suggested anyone under the age of 25 not use it, unless it an absolute necessity (as in the case of epileptic persons).

Yes. I agree. It usually comes from the mouths of recreational non-medicinal users.

How strong is this correlation? Do you have a study you can link? I know that there was a study regarding use under 18 but that study was not very well designed and another study later on called it into question. I know for sure though that it's been implicated in an earlier presentation of schizophrenia.

My doctor has already hinted to me that I should smoke it for my epilepsy and my mom has told me that the moment it is legal down here, she'd buy me as much as I want. Here's hoping for 2016

Did you read the rest of this thread? He said something a lot of us agreed with (new), but he then proceeded to get owned in his own thread by people who know more than him (old). Given his stance on legalization is not a surprise, Rex continues to Rex.

And she doesn't have to worry about drug tests at work....her boss was actually the one to recommend she look into getting a medical card for her arthritis pain.
Is this in Louisiana?
My daughter has Lupus and struggles with the aches and pains. I have thought that maybe she should try it. I think the long term affects of her meds are not going to be good for her body.

No. The corrupt politicians in the pocket of the corrupt sheriffs who abuse the seizure laws made sure you have to be practically dead or dying before you can get the card in LA. Too much money to be made putting people in jail.
frick them all.
frick them all.

So people with depression, anxiety and ADHD are going to walk around high all day everyday in place of their meds?
Those drugs to cure those disorders get you high too. What's the big deal?
Not sure about depression pills, but anxiety and ADHD pills are quite popular items for illegal drug activity.

Forcing a slightly hyperactive kid to start taking adhd medicine before the age of 18 will do far worse for him than a little pot.

The AMA also supported obamacare. I don't think many doctors consider it "their" organization.
I am a physician and HATE the AMA. I can't name 5 of my colleagues who are actual paying members.
The AMA is a political organization that only serves to promote itself. It has no desire to actually help doctors treat patients.
Also, I can agree with the other posters on pharma reps. They only serve to give us samples of meds for our patients. We get nothing else.

I hope both of you are placed in a situation one day where you have to make a choice between providing yourself or your child with the medication necessary to stop seizures or many other debilitating conditions and going to prison. Then you'll understand what people are going through. Also, in a "free" country you should be able to ingest whatever you please without the fear of being imprisoned. It's not a douche bag argument, it's common sense.

No this is AZ. My friend's hands would get so bad she couldn't work some days(she is at a computer all day). My friend would always complain about the side effects from all the meds she was on. I don't know exactly what meds she is still on now, just know that she has told me she has been able to get off of a couple of them since she got her medical card. And of course her doctor is aware of any changes she has made to her medication regimen.
