On what basis are you stating this as an absolute truth? I'm a med student and from what I can tell most doctors are absolutely A OK with anything that might help their patients. It's certainly beneficial for seizures, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic pain, nausea/vomiting, and cachexia/decreased appetite due to HIV/AIDS and cancer, but with little to no side-effects compared to some of the hardcore drugs currently on the market. It decreases opioid use in persons prescribed those drugs, and has been shown to decrease opioid overdoses in states where it is legal. It has wonderful potential and I would really like to see some more research into it, but that would require our congress to reschedule it
Anyway, assuming it were legal, I would have no qualms about prescribing it. I think your opinion is more due to your distrust of doctors ("profiteers") than actually understanding their attitudes towards MMJ. Typical Rex

Rex, don't you go waving the banner of weed. It's too cool for you.

I'd love to hear from some of these doctors that benefit financially from these meds, other than docs that treat chronic pain with narcotics. If anything, I'd love for my patients on percocet and xanax to self medicate with marijuana, once it's legal, of course.

the number of meds it could replace is far greater than 5.
for once, i almost agree with you.

So people with depression, anxiety and ADHD are going to walk around high all day everyday in place of their meds?
Btw, all those meds have generics and are not huge money makers.

I won't be impressed with their opinions until I see official and conspicuous public support.

You realize they wouldn't be smoking it all day everyday?
The case I mentioned with my friend...she only smokes/ingests it once a week and that is enough for her to have benefits from it.
And she doesn't have to worry about drug tests at work....her boss was actually the one to recommend she look into getting a medical card for her arthritis pain.

Uh no it's used to treat their problems with no serious problems other then possibly getting high for a little bit
And you're a complete tool of you think Big Pharma isn't scared of medical pot

What's the generic for Adderall?
Posted on 12/28/15 at 4:56 pm to Dale Murphy
I'd bet most docs would love to be rid of all the malingerers after opiates, benzos and stimulants. Don't let people like Rex know that though, they've got big ideas about the millions docs clear thanks to xanax and Ritalin.

amphetamine salts.
as far as people walking around high all day on weed, read the side effects on SSNRI's.

So instead of listening to the opinions of the doctors right here on this board, you'll continue to base your opinions on what the AMA hasn't said?
Sweet.
Sweet.

If the govt would reschedule the drug to make research easier, the compounds responsible for the anxiolytic/antidepressive effects could be isolated from the psychoactive component and made into a drug with precise dosages. And most of these effects are due to CBD, which is not psychoactive and has already been used for seizure treatments (see: Charlotte's Web strain of MMJ).

I wonder if Rex is aware of all the limitations there are on what pharm reps can do for docs nowadays. I'd be willing to say that 90% of practicing physicians would rather not deal with reps anymore. Other than the occasional dinner, you're left with pens and calendars.

Again, that's the AMA. I'm talking about real, live practicing physicians. Maybe the AMA has some financial benefit, but your hometown docs don't.

Would the side effects be better or worse?
Posted on 12/28/15 at 5:05 pm to Dale Murphy
Well, widespread support by doctors would seem to be the impetus for legalization, and I eagerly await it.
