There's nothing more joyous than throwing an armful of bouncy balls and watching all the chirruns scatter.

These parades have been around a lot longer than plastic. I wonder what they threw back then?

Ramen noodles seem to be a cheap throw that we always keep. We caught some spatulas at Iris that were cool.

I threw a double handful of meticulously detailed cockroaches into the crowd when they were surging too close and it was stopping the parade.

Parted the seas of the community like ICE at a Home Depot. Funniest thing ever.

I threw mostly a few nice stuffed animals, note pads with pens, those neck travel pillows, t-shirts, night lights, oven mitts, bamboo spoons, hand held electric fans, lunch bags, visors, coozies , pillows, some homemade night masks and probably a lot of stuff I’m forgetting. The few beads I threw were light ups, glass and krewe specific.

First time riding and came strong

Greatest Mardi Gras catch ever was some years back.

A friend of my dad's who rode next to him realized his wrist was empty at the end of the parade.

At some point, his watch had fallen off into the crowd. It was a Rolex he had not had for long which cost over $10k. He was a bit tipsy and simply shrugged.

Can you imagine the person who caught or picked it up? Best Mardi Gras ever.

yes, all throws should be means tested prior to usage.

or perhaps they could throw canned vegetables. Or wrenches. Everyone can use a wrench, right? Or better yet, don't throw anything. Just let the floats go by as the riders stare blankly at the crowd. If you try hard enough you can take all the fun and uniqueness out of it. But at least it won't be wasteful.

My kids are still in that age range of if they see it, they want it and will try to catch it or scoop it off of the ground. There favorites are the various candy (can people stop w the cheap gum), stuffed animals, doubloons, anything that can be a sword, anything that bounces

Candy goes without saying, they love to eat/try it all. Favorite are the gummies with suckers close behind
They have mountains of stuffed animals and there is no telling which will become the next short time favorite. Best this year was a multi-colored elephant, stingray, and little tiger
Doubloons are great to them because they play a lot of pretend games that need money
Sword like objects are always a great time until they break
Spike balls get the 2nd best use for playing random games of soccer, tag, baseball, tried volleyball once, basketball, etc.
We also all turn any little figurine that floats (like those little ducks) into pool toys during the following season.

Not since my fourth spinal surgery. But long time rider with one krewe and sporadic guest rider with two others prior.

I threw a lot of t-shirts and socks this year.

I caught a pair of socks at Endymion and it's one of the few things I brought home with me and actually plan to keep.

I rode in both Endymion and Orpheus this year. Hands down the throw most people lost their shite for in both parades were small parasols with the tassels on the brim. More so than the “titty beads”.

As someone mentioned earlier, frisbees were a hit. Although the faces in Orpheus were a bit letdown when they realized they weren’t tambourines I was pulling out.
