This may very well be unnecessary with me just being an ignoramus, but if any among you are flying out of NOLA today or tomorrow, arriving an hour and a half before your Southwest flight is NOT enough time.

Or maybe it's barely enough time. With a brisk jog, I was able to make it aboard just before the doors closed.

It had nothing to do with the security line. The Southwest ticketing procedure was the biggest clusterfrick I've ever seen. People throughout the line were missing flights.

Potential hot take - but Southwest has gone downhill in a lot of ways lately. I've had a similar experience, and have had multiple flights delayed due to "equipment error" that needed to be fixed. One was a 6 hour delay.

wow, who would have thought that MSY would be busy around Mardi Gras?

Also be cautious while driving near Canal Street or the French Quarter tonight, as there may be more traffic than usual.

Flew SWA out of NOLA last year. The line was about 80 people deep, all kiosks were down, one agent checking people in, 6 standing around talking and playing on their phone.

Guess Im in the minority. Have had 0 issues with Southwest at MSY and fly them every couple months. Have never waited longer than 10 minutes to check bags. And cant remember last time longer than 5 minutes in TSA line. (Precheck of course)

This isn’t immediate post-9/11 anymore. An hour is usually more than enough.

Maybe I’m just spoiled with precheck

It's 2019. Do all those people not realize they can have their ticket sent to them as a digital version on their phone? Its been years since I've used a paper and ticket.

People still have to drop checked bags.

Only negative SW experience I've ever had was at MSY. I blame MSY and New Orleans.

Flew Southwest out of MSY onSaturday, had zero issues. It took me 40 minutes from parking offsite to getting to the terminal, including checking bags

You check bags... that's where you went wrong. No need to ever approach a ticketing counter.

Well my inherent assumption is that they don't.

most people aren't very smart travelers, not saying they aren't smart people, just not smart about traveling

It's called the skycap. Southwest has one at MSY, and while it can have a line, it's usually faster than going to the ticket counter inside or dealing with baggage there.
