Demographics will explain a lot and that's just the way it is here. I'm not sending my kids to school with a bunch of wild animals who have no parental guidance. Also, just because you're not religious or catholic doesn't mean that your kids wouldn't benefit from the environment. Seems pretty selfish. Thr comment about private school kids going public will improve them is retarded.

Just a matter of time before a movement is made to make this racist.
Shaming the parents admins and teachers to believing their school is racist.
Sadly there are cucks involved in this that'll go right along with it.

No one wants their kids to go to school with ghetto, including black parents who want to see their kids get an education.

Lousiana is also unique in that it has a lot of relatively inexpensive Catholic schools even in smaller towns

Other places private school costs more

Well, your don't get paid in Louisiana as much as other areas of the country either. In my opinion, it's all relative.

No parents black, white or whatever who are legitimately concerned about their kid's safety, well-being, and education wants their kids to attend school where those three qualifications are not addressed.

Too many public schools in EBR Parish have poor discipline, poor teachers and poor teachers and by poor I don't mean because of their economic status.

Discipline problems start at home but also involve the administrators at the school and at the home office.

Teaching problems start with tenure, the unions, and the home office.

Student problems start at home.

I believe the discipline issues, and the poor teacher issues can be addressed somewhat; however, the poor students who are not there to learn and all they do is disrupt classes have to be removed from the classroom and put in some kind of reform school. That isn't about to happen so concerned parents of every race are removing their kids from these poor students as best they can.

They put their children in magnet or gifted schools, they send them to charter schools, they send them to private schools, or they leave the parish. Unfortunately some do not have the means to do this and they are the ones who are screwed the most.

That's how it works.

I’m a non-religious person and I send my kids to catholic school. It’s a great education. I also went to catholic school and when I finally got out I’d had enough religion to say goodbye forever....I’ve always joked that if you want a non-religious kid, send them to catholic school.

So how will more kids in public schools cause parents to give a shite about their kid's education?

That’s actually how it works. I’ve seen parents in neighborhoods here in Houston get involved and turn underperforming elementary publics into top schools....that being said I don’t think it will work for high schools - districts are too big.

You basically described my wife and I rationale for leaving the Tangipahoa Parish School District. We left and moved 20 miles east to Mandeville. Although there are completely different things we need to watch out for in St. Tammany Parish, at least the classroom environments are stable for learning and the parents are more actively involved with their kids education.

My wife and I were products of a Catholic school upbringing, and our kids are now. Wouldn't have it any other way..

Our kids are in school with other kids with parents just like ya'll.. You don't have to be Catholic, however, you will pay more in tuition since you're not part of the church parish.

leave the public schools with kids/parents who either don't give a shite

This is why. If I can pay for my child (and I can) to go to a school where he will be surrounded by other children who’s parents care about education then I will.

I’m not gonna send my kid to a public school where I know he will receive a lesser education to “strengthen” the public school system.

It really does suck for those who can’t afford to pay for private school but the charter and magnet system at least offers them a way to get a decent education.

I’m not gonna apologize for doing what’s best for my kid.

Yeah, the amount of money we spend on education in The USA isn't the problem.

You can just pretend to be part of the church, pay the annual tithe, which is much less than amount you pay in extra tuition for not being catholic. we havne't been to church one time at my kids school.

A friends parents who gives a shite can hopefully overcome the lack of a good parent. I will say that where I went to public school this happened. Kids that would have otherwise been left behind were shown the way by kids who had incredible parents.

Is it the responsibility of the good parents? Or excuse bad parenting? Hell no. Just saying how introducing better students into the equation can change the school.

this may work in certain areas but our really bad areas have too much of an underclass population to make a dent

all you're going to do is hurt the kids who are currently out of that toxic environment by bringing them down to the level
