I would bet the cause of crime is the same in the small towns in Louisiana as it is in the bigger cities

Opelousas should be on there. Seems like a couple murders a week there

Likely didn't fit one of the criteria for the study, but I was checking thinking "Where is Opelousas" LOLOL

Sometimes lists are annoying. Kind of like some folks. And this list and those folks have a lot in common.

I'd like to see these stats if you didn't include black people.

Salisbury is one of the worst small towns to live in here in NC. List is total trash.

Tough publicity for the Jewel on the Ouachita. Hopefully it doesn’t affect their thriving tourism industry.

If Hammond had a few thousand more ppl they would number 1 in Louisiana. They have just under 20,000 people.

With a crime rate of 74 per one thousand residents, Hammond has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 13.

I didn't think Houma was that dangerous for its size. Is this specific to violent crime only or all crime?

Those numbers are run on the city limits of Houma only Population 33,000+. Certain folks are violent in certain parts of the city.

This doesn’t make Terrebonne-Lafourche as a rule unsafe.

Statistics can be manipulated to paint ugly or pretty pictures.

Apparently we are apologizing for Houma instead of living here with some insight

Aiken SC surprised me, there are several worse towns in SC. North Charleston and Orangeburg come to mind.
