Source?

What are they comparing? Counties vs counties? Or metro areas?

It doesn't jibe with this list, which has several sources and compares metro areas:

EBR is a parish, which corresponds to a county.

Leading GDP growth. Not leading GDP for the state. It's far behind EBR, Jefferson, Orleans, etc.

It's not even actually #1 in growth if you read the article you posted:

quote:

The U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Economic Analysis and The Advocate have reported that St. Bernard’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth from 2016-2019 ranks 2nd amongst all Parishes in Louisiana, rising 42% and over $273 million. GDP, defined as the total value of all goods and services produced in a market, is a key performance indicator of an economy’s health and outlook.

Trust me. Chalmette does not have the highest GDP in the state of Louisiana, although it's doing very well right now. East Baton Rouge has the highest. Orleans and Jefferson are also higher than Chalmette.

Not the city of Baton Rouge. The parish of East Baton Rouge, which contains Baton Rouge, St. George, Central, Zachary, Scotlandville, Baker, etc.

We rank higher than I realized. Is this due to O&G?

State government, lawyers, lobbyists, and a major university also contribute.

Agreed, but there is a lot of industry in EBR, and a lot of professional services that support the industry all around EBR. Plus LSU and the state government.

Still, definitely better than expected.
