I personally don't have a problem with tipping in a restaurant or lounge. It's protocol. Are they basing this off of people who go to the Bayou Classic, or eat at Red Lobster and Applebee's? So the answer is to just pay more for servers and bartenders, while price of food and drink skyrockets? People are so damn cheap when it comes to tipping

I'm fed up with CC fees being tacked on instead of just included in the price. You aren't fooling anyone, just raise your prices on the menu.

Tipping is for table service, not counter service.

If I'm sitting at a table, and a waitress is bringing me my food, refilling my drink, and occasionally asking me how things are, then yes I believe tipping is required.

If its counter service, and some counter girl is handing me my food and an empty cup, which I have to bring to a table and fill the drink myself, then no I don't want to tip.

Just raise prices, then give a cash discount.

Aren't many hotels tacking on a resort fee now? Especially in Vegas?

Especially when they charge 10% for using a CC

If you wait on me, deliver something to me, or cut my hair, I'll tip you. If you just hand me what I paid for when I go to pick it up, I do not tip. Its pretty simple logic.

Understand your point. Not referring to take out.

You joke, but I have always left a tip when eating buffets because they are constantly grabbing plates...some even refill your drinks for you.

My peev is when you do take out or somesuch and they flip the screen around on you where it shows 10% 20% 30% 40% .

My kid has a side job at a food place, he gets extra money on his check every month from the Tip Pool.

Tipping is for people who waited on me and bartenders. If I poured my own drinks or ordered at a counter or anything like that, I'm not tipping.

It has gotten completely OOC

You right. I tip Mamason when she lays me on the table for a rub and tug.

This is fricking bullshite too.

When I tip my waitress it should go straight into her pocket. I tip very generously for good service and nobody else in that building should get a nickel of my excellent server's tips.

On a CC surcharge note, I buy metal from a supplier in town. I bought a welder from them and was willing to pay cash if they gave a discount of any sort. Oddly enough, they don't discount the price at all for using cash even on a larger ticket item. So I guess you just collect the CC points and move on.

This new screen flip to select a tip % for countertop service phenomenon has become one of my biggest pet peeves, and I still rarely have the guts to manually select 0%.

I bartended & served for years back in the day, so maybe it’s just hard wired in me, but I think it’s total bullshite.
