How does the OT feel about this?

Leslie Van Houten, a follower of Charles Manson who was convicted in two killings, will be paroled in weeks, her attorney said Friday after California’s governor said he would not challenge it at the State Supreme Court.
“She’s thrilled,” Van Houten’s attorney Nancy Tetreault said.
Van Houten, now 73, will be paroled in the next several weeks after spending more than five decades in prison, Tetreault said.
An appeals court ruled in May that Van Houten is eligible for parole, reversing a decision by Gov. Gavin Newsom to reject parole.
Newsom, who has repeatedly blocked efforts for Van Houten to be paroled, had until Monday to file a challenge with the state Supreme Court.

Crazy how she might quickly become a millionaire from all of the media and entertainment. Probably secured good money in prison also!

Those Manson girls sure got their 15 minutes. Another one tried to assassinate President Ford in 1975.
Ford had two women try to assassinate him in California within 17 days in two different cities.

Geez...when Gavin Newsome is on the side of reason, you know things are fricked up.

I’m good with it. She’s paid her due. She’s been in prison a long damn time. She was young and dumb and Manson was manipulating those idiots. He should have been hung immediately.

Let's hope that the state that California has become (in her incarceration) has some perps who don't know who she is, but just that she needs some attitude adjustment.

I just read Helter Skelter, the book written by the prosecutor Bugliosi.
Being before my time, I didn’t really understand the details of the case and all that was going on at the time. It’s a great read, I recommend it for anyone who likes crime stories.
Bottom line, they’re all nuts and shouldn’t be let loose

Yeah, it's one of the best crime books ever written. Fantastic read.

It is also mostly untrue. But I agree, it’s a great story and that’s probably why it’s the accepted dogma of Manson.
I would consider Chaos by Tom O’Neill as the definitive account of the Manson murders. Anyone interested in this case, the 60’s, or clandestine government operations should read that book.

Bugliosi has to be viewed with extreme skepticism.

Originally sentenced to death. Then CA got rid of the death penalty. And now her life sentence is allowing her a parole.
That crazy bitch should be shot like a dog.

Chaos is a fantastic book. Manson was a See Eye A asset. Bugliosi was a massive POS.

Um f that b. She deserved to have already been killed. Living to 73 is a privilege.

I'm gonna slip her some LSD

Shoulda been torched with a flamethrower like that other girl.

Tex who was the ring leader of the actual murder has now found god and all that. I don’t buy the helter skelter thing that Bugliosi used. I really think it was done to look like the Black Panthers did it so they could get their guy out of jail. Either way, it was always said that none of them would ever be paroled. Leave it to Newsome to allow it to happen.

I’m interested to see what caused the change of heart for Gavin?
Or did he just forget to file the parole rejection?

I cannot fathom how any justice system allows anyone convicted of 1/2nd degree murder out of prison at any time of their life.
