That must have been the A T Martinez property, wasn't that where the vampire shows were filmed?

don't know the history of it, my cousin(who passed away about a year ago,) has had that for almost 40 years, his family still lives there, really nice piece of land, were any of those shows Charles B. Pierce projects? because he was related, but I'm sure I would have heard about that

Is stonewall the best place around Shreveport if you don’t want to pay for private schools?

Caddo Parish has a really good magnet school program. Unless your kids are retarded, you don't have to send your kids to private school if you live anywhere in Caddo.

As for the OP, Mansfield is a massive shithole. Trust me.

A lot of my NWLA friends are buying in Stonewall. One of my best friends married a girl from there and recently moved there after spending a decade in BR and DFW, he loves it. Easy drive to Shreveport or Bossier, decent scenery, short drive to hunting and Toledo Bend.

Grand Cane listing

This monstrosity is for sale. It is actually not in Grand Cane despite what the listing says, but fairly close. Grand Cane is only a one mile square village with some nice older houses. This one is several miles west. It does not fit in and not representative of area but to each their own. The grand cane area is nice laid back village with a community theater and a main strip of businesses with a restaurant, coffee shop, mercantile, heath store, and other small shops. Stonewall is more modern subdivisions. 20 minutes to Mansfield or south Shreveport from grand cane. 40 minutes to downtown Shreveport all highway or interstate. There is a nice house I was told was coming up for sale in grand cane that has a three car garage, shop and sits on the corner of the village at the end of one of one of the streets with 10 acres. It will be a good home for someone. I have not seen the listing pop up yet though. Certainly I would recommend grand cane or stonewall over Mansfield.

Mansfield was considered (among hundreds of other towns,) for the location of the Air Force Academy
Now it’s a target of opportunity for the USAF bombers.

It has a paper mill. It's the site of a Civil War battle. It's not far from the upper end of Toledo Bend. It's close enough to Shreveport that you could commute if you wanted to. If you like the outdoors and don't mind an almost total lack of cultural amenities you'll probably like it.

You want to live in Stonewall or one of the surrounding small towns that are in the North Desoto High School district for sure.

Go Griffins.

I believe Desoto was at one point one of the better school districts in the state. What’s this town like? Is it decent for Louisiana standards?

You could just move to Bossier Parish.

Do you like meth?

How about being surrounded by people that do meth all the time?

Do you like spotlighting deer at night while doing meth?

Mom's side of the family goes back over 200 years in DeSoto Parish and not a single one ever lived in Mansfield. My double great grandad was wounded in the Battle of Mansfield and walked over 20 miles back home that way rather than stay in Mansfield.

I obviously would not give the area a favorable livability rating.

I remember back in the Haynesville Shale boom, the old lady at Southern Classic was slinging some ridiculously good pies out of the back.

MLB legend Vida Blue was born and raised in Mansfield. Once his playing days were done he passed on returning to Mansfield and decided to stay in Northern California.

Stonewall would be the area you'd want to be in around there. Growing country town with a good bit of new neighborhoods. Land is still relatively priced there if you're looking for land. Growing but still has a country feel to it. Close to Shreveport.
