There is a big thread on FB of people who went to HS with him. The consensus is that he has always been like this.

Yup! I went to HS with him and he has a history of being an a-hole. God forbid we ever find out more about what he got away with as an LEO back in the day…??

This was obvious to myself and a couple of other buddies- all of us deployed to OEF/OIF - and recognize the “wall”…Suarez snapped and sadly an old fella suffered and so has Suarez and his family.

You watched this guy be a douche, lose it, and pop an old man and immediately though PTS?? I see a dude that needs to be held accountable for his actions and is trying to use his service to save his arse. I and many buddies deal with PTS and I can absolutely say that while we may have saw red and ended that douche right there after seeing him pop the old man we would have NEVER hit the old guy.

Well I hope that you will come forward as a character witness to help put this douchebag in jail

Do people really care “why” he behaved the way he did?

It’s like rationalizing the criminal behavior of the 18 year old because his father left when he was 2 and his mom drank a lot and did some drugs…. So it’s now okay that robs and occasionally threatens to kill people….

Yeah…. We all have our troubles but some of us have sense enough to know right from wrong

Take this guy out of circulation. We don’t care “why” he acts like an a-hole…. We just don’t want to be bothered with it.

In summary, because of PTSD, he chose to threaten and intimidate multiple women and elderly in front of the honey baked ham (rip) and the public library? While illegally parked blocking people in? Cruisin for a brusin

If he tried this shite in front of coffee rani he would have left in a body bag.

Every guy I’ve met in the national guard has been a roided up pos.

Correction: the pos people I’ve run into was the coast guard, Not the national guard.
I apologize for misrepresenting the national
guard.

Attorney on WDSU

I'm starting to believe his attorneys want him to go to jail. What the hell are they thinking soliciting all this bullshite media coverage?

So the narrative now is that he was allegedly mid-psychotic break, having lost his shite at the house that morning (enough that someone apparently videoed it), and so we go run Christmas errands before leisurely making our way to the hospital. None of this makes any sense.

As someone pointed out yesterday, his actions on video hardly reflect the acts of someone who thinks they "are in a combat zone" like the attorney is claiming.

If the guy had been hiding behind cars and screaming about mortar fire and snipers I might buy it.

Must have been cav scouts. I remember during my days at Fort Polk where some cav scout from 2nd ACR got in a fight with an infantryman from 1/509th was pretty much a weekly occurrence and why The Oasis was on and off the off-limits list every so often.

So much goes into what causes PTS in one person versus another. Kind of like the non-alcoholic son vs alcoholic son of the alcoholic father.

Some folks are more predisposed due to preexisting issues, genetics, different exposures, etc…

Its OK. You can say it. Some people are weaker than others. We see this every day. people are not the same and should not be treated as such.

And his wife was apparently fine leaving him unaccompanied outside during all of this. Doesn't make one damn lick of sense.

He wouldn’t last 5 minutes in Baton Rouge. He would become another number on the wall at BRPD.

How does the attorney, or nola.com or other media outlets get to claim causation? Unless I’m missing something, they’re basing it solely on Suarez’s statement.

Yeah, they tended to be a bit randy between rotations. frickers would always be by our barracks if copious amounts of alcohol were involved.

Than that guy in the skinny jeans who wanted to fight the baws on the Mardi Gras float should also claim PTSD from being a Fire Fighter.

Why are some people giving assholes a pass? This guy is clearly an a-hole.

Well what happened is I was at a bar and when I got there they showed up shortly after. Their biggest fella was passed out drunk and fell down at my feet. I went down to help but one of his rushed over, got in my face and said “don’t touch him!” In which I threw my hands back in idle. I proceeded to watch them as they threw their weight around (while they placed the biggest fellow asleep at the end of the bar) and almost got in a physical altercation with an elderly drunk. Then I noticed one was with someone I knew of from my place of work. I casually looked over and nodded a slight “ oh hey” and went back to chatting with a friend of mine casually sipping a beer. A few minutes go by and the guy that told me not to help his friend up comes over and asks me if I winked at “place of work friend” which if you guess was a female who I knew nothing other than that. I explained to him that I worked with her and knew of her only because of that and that’s it which he wasn’t satisfied with and tried harder to make me say I winked. I then pushed back and spoke up for myself explaining I was just there to relax and have a few and I didn’t need to be dealing with the bs. He immediately apologized and insisted on buying me a shot which I refused several times because I’ve already had enough of the “dooshery” I eventually gave in and let him hoping his dumb arse would leave. Well it didn’t go well. He proceeded to tell me about their boring “sting king pin drug bust” they took down recently and rant on and on about other shite I don’t remember until I get a call I need to step out for. When I return the doosh is in my seat at the bar where I was talking with a friend and I notice he’s wiping up a spilled drink. I immediately replied to it with a jokingly “hey you missed a spot” well that didn’t sit well with him and he instantly turned and around and got in my face along with one of his buddies. Completely confused i stated “I was just messing with you!” He replied no one messes with me. His friend is so close to my face I’m having to lean back in which he says “Do we have a problem!?” At this moment the whole place is full of people and completely silent and is waiting for some shite to go down. My reply: “ I don’t even know what the hell is going on right now!” I look over to the bartender who I’ve known for years hoping for some help and he’s stunned himself. With my hands up hoping not to get jumped in that moment they finally back off. Later one tries to apologize to the bartender but never to me. The gentleman I was in conversation with told me he was ready to jump in and defend me if something happened. I walked out that place that night shooken as hell. I’ve never gotten into an altercation before but I was almost pushed into it by default. This happened years ago and I haven’t been back to that place since. With that experience I render a decent opinion of the coast guard.

Probably written by a lawyer. Nice touch on the suicide, to ensure he gets less criticism.

Just PR fluff.
