Clearly he didn’t learn his lesson the first three times.

On one hand, it’s ludicrous that he was given 36 years for stealing fifty bucks, yet i get the original intent of the law. If you are continually unwilling to correct your behavior you are a menace to society and should be locked up.

Oh well that a man lost 30 years of this life for some petty arse crimes? He's not a violent criminal

his fourth offense,

I mean......how many times do you need to be told? Don’t break the law. I do agree a life sentence is a bit much, though.

the $50 isn’t as important as the fact that he threatened someone’s life with a knife. Sentence may have been harsh, but he may also have continued armed robberies had he got off light.

Yeah, he should have gotten some time but 36 years is ridiculous. For example, this guy got seven years for stealing oxy while brandishing a knife. LINK

Another guy got six to eight years for robbing a hotel clerk with a knife. LINK

And here's a third guy who robbed a convenience store twice, once with an axe and once with a knife and he got eight years. LINK

So really he probably should have gotten a six to eight year sentence based on his actions not 36 fricking years.

That's not a petty crime. If I owned a bakery and worked behind the counter, I would be carrying. If you came in and pulled a knife on me, I wouldn't give you even one step - I would kill you. What the hell is petty about that? He was really lucky it didn't play out that way.

Fourth offense and use of a deadly weapon? 10-15 seems appropriate.
