The only thing trashier than giving family members such a worthless gift is trying to take it back the one time it isn't worthless.

whoever recieved that gift wins the 50k. wife is 100% wrong. it was a top 10 life moment for the gifter, that is an awesome for everyone there except the wife who is 100% wrong. wife wants to erase his top 10 moment out of selfishness.
from the recipient POV, especially since its a family christmas thing I would probably give 1/3 of the profit back to the gifter, keep 1/3, and use the other 1/3 on things to make the next few family christmas gatherings awesome for everyone.

At 23? I'd buy my cousin (the husband) $5-10k worth of cool shite that his wife doesn't want or think they need and pocket the rest.

He needs to lawyer up and get divorced. Wife is a POS who will absolutely leave him to get a slice of his hard work. Get his shite squared away and fire first.

I don't know if he already knew or not but his wife is a shite person. If they were actually poor I'm sure even a 23 year old would probably offer to split it, but she was immediately thinking the husband would just gift her the $50k like Carmella Soprano

You must be somewhat new here. If you weren’t, you would’ve said that the OT would PIIHB.

Just think what would have happened if it was a white elephant gift and the next person stole it.

That wife is a completely self-absorbed and selfish steaming pile of troglodyte shite

yea because context of family christmas I woudlnt feel right accepting that big of a gift so personally i'd feel obligated at least offer to return a decent chunk. not sure the husband would have accepted the money back. But then I could have similar top 10 life moments like husband got for giving that lotto ticket, spreading the win around over a few more family events would be a neat way to re-live the win. I think its just the context of family christmas would make me feel more generous and wanting to do cool shite for other family events with a good chunk of the winnings, considering the leftover 1/3 would still be huge for 23 yo AMS.
now if it was a graduation/birthday gift kinda thing im right there with you. even at 23 I wouldve invested half. but at 23 id blow the rest on a baller entertainment setup and a couple insane vacations while living a bit more lavish the next year or two.

Hope the 23 year old doesn't blow it. 23 year old me would have bought a loaded Z71 with it and spent the rest on beer and guns.
What year is it in your world. Unfortunately, $50k and loaded Z71 don't belong together in 2022.

Pro tip in giving scratch off lottery tickets…if in Louisiana, know where the QR bar code is and scratch it off without revealing the play area. Scan the ticket with the app, and it will tell you if it is a winner or not.
Keep the big winners for yourself and give the losers or small winners to who you want since you know the outcome.
Note: this may only work if you are dealing with people that don’t play often or know about that QR bar code under the scratch off part. Otherwise they will know you checked the tickets.

Sounds like something a wife would do
He needs to make sure the cousin gets the $
He should also divorce the bitch.

I always gift scratch offs to friends or neighbors. You can scan the barcode to see if they’re winners or not. That way you never give away a big winner.

My level of outrage depends on what the wife looks like.

Someone has some hidden credit card balances.
He should tell her to stfu

It was a gift with no strings attached. He knew the possibilities.

Why is the title "Man sparks" when it should read "Woman"?
That's such a shite take on her part.

I'd divorce that bitch after hiding all my money. She'll obviously push you down the stairs for $1k. Selfish. Eventually cheat on him if she hasn't already.
