He was running WITH A TASER. At that point, he is armed and considered a threat to bystanders. Tasers can absolutely be lethal and if used to incapacitate an officer and take his gun or a random citizen and take their car, it escalates further.

Some of y’all are just plain fricking stupid.

Being shot in the back regardless will bring out the protesters.

I am still though trying to figure out the solution to this all. Equal treatment is obviously a must, but if you read Twitter, it's more like wanting preferential treatment and that's where I get lost in the movement.

By THEY, I’m assuming you mean you & I correct? Because that’s who gives the police their power to arrest & enforce the laws of their jurisdiction, not their guns & badges. They are us the citizenry they uphold societal laws and we give them the authority to use deadly force if necessary. You said, Not a threat, how do you know this? Perp obviously either was in an altered state of consciousness or willfully breaking the law and NOT complying with SOCIETY to stop. Who protects the innocent law-abiding citizen? If this person was willing to assault police officers what’s the probability that they would commit further crimes in aiding their flight? I ask YOU what if it was you that he stumbled upon next & wanted to car-jack you to escape or was trying to force entry into your residence? So what are you so, so sick of? Exactly what it is. If you read the comments, they dismiss the fact that he had the taser in his hand while running by pointing out that a taser isn’t lethal. Clearly, they know nothing about tasers and have no idea what this man may decide to do with it if allowed to just run. One person also questions why they constantly shoot at the chest and back areas and not the legs. You literally can’t fix stupid and it’s gaining momentum like a 100-foot wave rushing to shore.

Later in the day, the GBI said it had reviewed new footage of the incident that shows "Brooks obtained one of the officer's Tasers and began to flee from the scene."

"Officers pursued Brooks on foot and, during the chase, Brooks turned and pointed the Taser at the officer. The officer fired his weapon, striking Brooks. A copy of this video will be released to the public," the GBI wrote Saturday on Twitter.

According to the agency, "an earlier account" of the incident "was based on the officer's body cam, which was knocked off during the physical struggle, preventing the capture of the entire shooting incident."
