I think it’s important not to jump to any conclusions until we know exactly what had happened was.

Teacher had limited options here

1. Fight
2. Flight
3. Sit on the ground wallowing in his own femininity

You are no longer allowed to defend yourself nor touch a student. No matter what happens.

We just need more programs to reach these youths. More funding.

I teach English in Japan. The kids are polite and respectful. The worst of them do things like fall asleep in class.

When I go back to the US, I'll probably change professions because I'm not dealing with that shite.

That teacher baw wasn’t fighting. Not a knock on him, but # 3 option was the safest option for him.

J’Mall and Trayvon were sitting quietly, soaking in their free public education and this teacher was being disrespectful to them.

If those students are SPED, they may not be disciplined at all. We have created a small segment of society where rules don't apply to them until they interact with the police. Usually, those later interactions don't end well. I would like to know how many of the high profile incidents involving police involved a former SPED student. As an educator, dealing with the SPED "untouchables" is the most frustrating aspect of my job (with #2 being pointless state testing measures...like the taxpayers footing the bill for a watered down ACT).
