If Patil did get the rabies vaccination that day, the bill shows it would have been an extra $13,048 charged.
Do you have any idea how difficult it is to collect semen from a rabid animal, get it to a lab and turn it into a usable rabies vaccine?
Trust me, $13,000 is a bargain.

Correct. There is no discernible code of ethics logical algorithm in their denials either. It's basically guessing what they can deny coverage for without the physicians office fighting to overturn it in 2 seconds or not care enough to fight it at all.
I had a family member get set up for a 3 part surgery to treat Parkinson's. Insurance approved the first 2 steps, but denied the final step of implanting the generator to power the electrodes that were gonna be drilled deep into his brain. We were told the appeal took all of 2 minutes to overturn the decision... after the doctor's office had to wait on hold for 20 minutes to set up an appointment to appeal.

I can’t imagine going to the emergency room for anything other than a legit emergency.

What specifically would you do to lower the prices hospitals charge?
What specifically would you do? Trap question. I don't work in healthcare. I am allowed an opinion though.

Very misleading clickbait
1. It’s a charge. Not what is actually paid. Medical practices commonly overcharge since prices fluctuate and they never want to leave anything on the table because margins are so thin. Some places over charge by a lot. They never get paid that.
2. It’s also a deterrent for people to not go to the ER unless it’s really an emergency.

Thought I was having a heart attack on vacation so I went to emergency room. Did an EKG and it Turned out I was just dehydrated so they did an IV. I work for a major corporation so I guess they thought I had a emergency room copay. Got a bill for $12,000 and after insurance they said I owed $2900. After battling an out of town hospital for 6 months we settled on $300

I get where you are going but Shyam Patil is pretty obviously a Hindu Indian not Middle eastern Muslim but you do you.

The emergency department is the dumping ground for everyone in or around the medical field.
Too many times they will say go to the ER because if you don’t.....(says something to scare the shite out of the patient).
They then go to the ER, scared shitless, and the get pissed at the ER staff because their “life threatening” issue, which is BS, isn’t being taken seriously.
They also get pissed because they wasted their own time and money.
Seen it 100s of times.

Cat Scratch Fever is no joke.
I was in the hospital for 6 days when I was 11 with this. Lymph nodes in my neck were the size of tennis balls.
