what were the lifeguards doing?
The guy with the drone said he talked with them, they told him she wouldn't have made it with him.

Judging by the video not many people can swim in those conditions...
He said "I can't swim" nothing about the double Red flags

This is great. Now if we can make this the norm instead of drones being used to bomb people.

i'm going to assume drones that run lures in the ocean have taken that into consideration in their design.
Not really, they just don't use them beyond their operational limits. If high wind keeps you from fishing, no big deal. That's not an option for surf rescue.

Were there double reds at the time of the incident, or was that just b-roll? Because the guidance is pretty f'ing simple:
quote:
There are single red beach flags and double red beach flags.
A double red flag at the beach means to REALLY STOP!
That would be a STOP from entering the water.
A double red flag at the beach means that due to water conditions of very high surf and/or currents, there is a very high hazard in the water.

How common are drones that have some kind of release mechanism?

What the hell are you talking about? Quite the rant about VC not getting into the lifeguard business.
Keep up, fricknuts.
I replied to the below question, which I took to mean “why has this not been widely adopted?” since the OP states “…changes beach safety forever.”
I explained why.

That aint no shite... I almost lost my life and my wife (girlfriend at the time) because of that. I've never been more scared in my life.... and lifeguarding is probably the only thing that saved is
