Not to mention mules and horses are the main form of transportation into and out of the Grand Canyon. A group of 135 assholes not only would essentially grind traffic down to a halt, it will also spook the animals and get people killed.

But by all means, carry on with your flash mob.

It's why they take rule violations seriously among other reasons Some of the fines and bans that get handed out are pretty wild, but understandable IMHO.

Also….when someone acts reckless and gets in trouble at the bottom of GC….that is putting those rangers that have to try and help them at unnecessary risk as well.

You do know the entire point of national parks is to preserve them from morons like you, right?

You can’t support truck convoys and not support this protest. It’s essentially one in the same.

Why are you assuming these people are going there to do harm to the trails? You realize that the Grand Canyon sees over a million visitors each year?!

Unless the truckers were doing shite straight out of Mad Max heavily risking lives, then no they are not at all one in the same.

Because these people are clearly room temperature IQ morons like yourself if they think it’s a good idea to do a narrow trail with mules with 130 people. If anyone hasn’t thought that through, then they sure as shite haven’t given any thought about to harms of the trail.

Majority of those visitors are up at the South Rim and likely don’t even set foot on a single trail that actually goes down into the canyon.

Why do you insist on being an a-hole?

Where did common decency and respect for nature and the natural world go?

Please stay at your shitty strip malls and chain restaurants in your bland, sterile master planned community and leave nature and the parks for those of us who respect them.

These fricking morons have no clue why National Parks were developed in the first place. No, you can’t do whatever your idiotic mind comes up with in a National Park. It could easily get you and others killed.

I dont understand why anyone would want to hike in a group larger than 4. The whole point is to get away from people.

I hike a lot, and I would be pissed if I ran into a 100+ person group on a trail. I purposely try to go when I think ill see the least amount of other people.

ETA: And frick people that play music while hiking. Trash.

I can’t STAND this. Always some dumbass with some portable speaker strapped to their pack blaring their shitty music.

If you want music, ear buds. I listen to music sometimes while hiking, but always with earbuds and at a low enough volume to still clearly hear what’s going on around me.

Trail integrity would be my guess.

You have too many people in a group and you'll always have one or two dumbasses venture off the trail then all bets are off. That's how people end up bear meat.

"Trail integrity". Geez. (Is that related to Lane-Integrity"??)

Unbelievable. Chyeah -- THAT'S the reason. Cuz everyone needs to wear a leash and mask IN a safety-bubble. Because they'll "stray" off the beaten path behind a rock and be eaten by Yogi and Boo-Boo.

Thanks, Ranger Smith.

Bingo. The whole point is to get away from people. Especially the ones who blast music. Unbelievable.

Are you people fricking idiots? Is this not a free fricking country anymore?

By some of the pro over-officious responses -- YES, IDIOTS (and no, it's NOT free anymore. Exactly because authoritarian water-carriers are "protecting" the so-called "sensitive environment" of rocks, stone, rubble, and scrub grass.

Just because some government employee park rangers want to limit groups to sizes of 11(seems quite arbitrary in number) doesn’t mean all you limp dicks need to fall in order.

Bwaahaa!

Too late. I'm also cringing at the subservience and obedience in this thread over "official" (and amateur) precautions that are total BS.

Also why is the park service limiting groups to 11. Everyone knows that COVID is virtually none transmissible outdoors.

It has nothing to do with COVID. The 11 person rule has been in place long before COVID restrictions.
