Is the mamou Mardi Gras still segregated? When I was a teenager the blacks had one end of the street with their own shite and the crackers had their end down around Fred’s lounge.
I went a year or two ago on Monday but didn’t stay past nightfall.
Either way it’s sad that we can’t have a normal celebration that has been going on for many generations without some stupid nonsense.

For anyone wondering, Mamou has 2 seperate Mardi Gras going at the same time.
On the south end of town, under the only traffic light in town, is where the old school traditional Mardi Gras is held. And when I say old school I mean OLD SCHOOL. Like there is no marching bands, no one really throwing beads, no women allowed to actually run Mardi Gras, etc. One of the last places you'll find an old school traditional Mardi Gras.
On the north end of town is where the "Zydeco" Mardi Gras is held. You can figure out the rest of the story.
