I watched the two giraffes in the Lafayette Zoo do this.. then the piss-drinker walked over to the feeding area and licked treats out of some 10-year olds' hands

a lot of species do this. The stupid face is called a flehman response. they are essentially aerating any smells and hormones. I havent seen pecker around in awhile so im filling in for your fun animal trivia. cheers.
