That's what I am thinking too. I imagine Russia would know exactly what that plane was. Plus, the pro-Russian side isn't the Russian government, per se, so it would seem more likely that the Ukrainian government would have the means to do it.

Maybe someone with military experience can tell us exactly how ground to air misses work. Do they just see an object on radar and fire?

Apparently, the separatists just shot down a Ukrainian fighter jet just recently. This could be them at it again.

The fact that Eurocontrol/MH dispatch sent that plane over an area where SAMs were fired less than a week ago blows my mind
