The lack of murder weapon (they determined she was shot because of the skull fracture, not buying that), lack of motive, and basic lack of all pertinent physical evidence with the story that they told was very telling and its why people are so up in arms.

Avery talking to the media during the search and his cooperation after the car was found on his family's property did not seem like the kind of behavior a guilty man has. He doesn't come across as a someone who thinks they can get away with murder so he's hiding in plain sight kind of guy. Not to mention there is no motive when you are about to be awarded 36 million dollars.

No, the burden of proof is on the prosecution. All of the evidence they provided has been proven to be tainted in one form or another. You are viewing the verdict subjectively; one of the cornerstones of our criminal justice system is the state having to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the person convicted of the crime is indeed guilty. If you don't see reasonable doubt in any of those two cases you are a complete buffoon.
Fwiw, there were 12 jurors with access to wayyyyyyyy more information than we have, and all 12 eventually arrived at a guilty verdict.

But the testimony of his cousin was beyond coerced to the point of comedy (if the situation wasn't serious). That was the chief piece of evidence in the conviction of Avery.

Was this evidence actually used at the trial?

People are framed and killed for far, far less than $36M. That would have cratered that town...the insurance companies had a reasonable basis to deny the claim due to the malfeasance in the rape case, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if SA had nothing to do with her murder (even knowing he beat off on a moving vehicle in the past)

as to why he froze up on the stand, i agree it is telling, but if she was reported missing on Nov 2nd or 3rd, the cops would definitely have her plate number for the searching. It would be easy for him to have the number and not actually be reading it from the car. he also called it a '99 Rav4, so it seemed like he was reading from the registration data base more than the car itself. it explains why he would have it, and not be on the property.
Yea, I didn't get why that was a big bombshell moment either.

If she's missing, I'd assume all cops are on the lookout for that tag#, so why does it matter that he knew the tag# before the car was found?

It made it seem like it was impossible for cops to know the tag# without having the actual car, I must have missed something.

Biggest thing I took away from everything was that Brendan got fricking screwed.

It was very clear on video that a mentally retarded 16 year old was fed answers in a 4 hour long interrogation (multiple times) without the presence of a lawyer or parent.

Add that to the fact his lawyer was proven to be colluding with prosecutors, ignoring his claims of innocence, and being an all-around shitty attorney.

Add that to the fact his story changed 1000000 times and the bus driver COMPLETELY destroyed his timeline and series of events.

And we have video evidence of all of this occurring. How the hell was he not granted another trial?

If every cop knows the tag #, why call it in? That's the only part I don't get. It does make complete sense that the cop was on the property, found the vehicle, called it in to verify and then told the search party to request access to the property and where to go look to find it.

Add into the fact that he admitted to all of his convictions or crimes that he committed previously.

A well-planned murder by a smart person doesn't result in the car being barely hidden on your property when you have a car crusher, a body being burned 20 ft from your front door in your yard, and then consenting to a search of the property.

But maybe we have different definitions of dumbass.

You completely disregarded my question and statement. This "dumbass" would have walked if not for a retarded kid being coerced and planted evidence.

Yea, because that is the only thing you could get railroaded on. I remember when I was immature and saw things only one way. I mean I was thinking just like you not too long ago. Yes, the guy was a class A f up. However, that doesn't excuse what the prosecution, investigators, sheriffs, etc did in this case. It was wrong plain and simple. It also created doubt which if present means I cannot vote guilty just because I think he is a POS.

1. Your OP is terrible. If I hadn't watched this turd on Netflix, I would have NO IDEA what you are talking about.

2. Having watched it, the producers tried like Hell to come up with a "Paradise Lost" type doc and failed miserably.

Having a questionable interrogation/ confession by a sub-70 IQ does not a West Memphis 3 drama make.

Netflix needs to stick with women in prison sit coms and leave the real documentaries to the pros at HBO and America Undercover.
yea....they really failed, I mean, no one is watching or talking about this documentary at all.

IDK about you but I threw aerosol cans in fires and mud balls at cars when I was young and immature. Cats and cum don't occur to most of us in these situations.

The world is better with him in prison. For all our justice system flaws, this is undeniable.

Could have been plenty of motive for the County, though, if they were gonna be on the hook for that full $36M. Maybe I'm taking the conspiracy one step too far, tho

I find your views personally offensive and potentially very harmful to the world. I think you should be locked up for life. How about them apples.

Not because he's smart. He's just lucky. Like I said, a smart person wouldn't leave her car and body on their own property.

And you realize they didn't use Brendan's testimony in his trial right?

Yep I just changed my theory again:

1. He killed and dismembered her in the salvage yard.
2. Transported her body to fire pit in her car…like a dumbass
3. Hid her car…like a dumbass
4. Cops planted evidence because they had no murder weapon or murder scene.
5. Brendan was fed a bullshite story by detectives to help case against Steve and he didn’t have shite to do with it except maybe helping burn the body in the pit.
Why the frick would you dismember someone if you're just going to burn the body into ash? There's no reason to do that. If the murder occurred in the salvage yard, why are there bullet fragments in the garage? Your theory makes no sense. The only way you can explain that is if the bullet fragments have nothing to do with the murder (which is probably true because there is no good reason to believe he murdered her).

You're making the assumption that Avery did it and then carving this theory to fit the lack of evidence, which is the exact wrong way to go about this.

So the bombshell wasn't as much that he knew the tag#, it was moreso why would he even be calling it in in the 1st place? That makes sense. Did Colburn ever attempt to explain why he made that call anywhere?
