cop called the car in to make sure he was planting blood in the right RAV4
I think Steve did it, but I also think after a few days of searching his home LEO realized they had no physical evidence to support it.
its why the key was found after 8 different searches, with ONLY Avery's DNA on it.

I put myself in the defendant's shoes and would hope I would get treated more fairly than that. Too much shady actions on the prosecutions side for my taste.
Well I don't throw cats on fires and jack off on moving cars so empathize with him, I can't.

most likely because you cant search without a warrant.
if he admitted to being on the property without permission hes in big shite
Did the woman who found the car on the lot say there wasn't a license plate and she had to read the VIN number?
I zoned out at that point and can't remember

2. Don't be stupid (low IQ)
3. Always have a lawyer present when being questioned by the police

I can agree with your opinion. My stance is that he is guilty. Like I said just my opinion, no need for name calling.

So true. Also, don't let the police get hold of him without an attorney present.
I feel for that kid. SA, no so much.

I still can't get over how the cop called in the plate #, like he was sitting behind it, 2 days before the car was "found" and had no explanation while on the stand.
as to why he froze up on the stand, i agree it is telling, but if she was reported missing on Nov 2nd or 3rd, the cops would definitely have her plate number for the searching. It would be easy for him to have the number and not actually be reading it from the car. he also called it a '99 Rav4, so it seemed like he was reading from the registration data base more than the car itself. it explains why he would have it, and not be on the property.

Guys, it was a nice debate. I have to head to work. Get back on this thread about 7pm or so.

It's more difficult to figure out the license plate from a vehicle a missing person owns than it is to figure out the owner of a vehicle.

Why bother doing that?

This wasn't a "dumbass" murder. Have you even watched or read about the case?
If it went down the way the prosecution accuses, it wasn't.
But in reality it probably was a murder by Steve on his own property when he was scheduled to be the last person to see her then burned her body on his property and hid her car crudely on his property.
That is the work of a dumbass.

Seems like an easy enough thing to just say instead of having no explanation.

There's literally none of Theresa's blood anywhere
All over her car.
Which backs my theory she was murdered and dismembered out in the salvage yard then transported postmortem to the burn pit.
She DEFINITELY wasn't killed in the house or garage unless it was by strangulation and there was no blood or bodily fluid somehow anywhere.

How is it a work of a dumb arse when the police had to plant evidence and coerce Brendan to get a guilty verdict? Without those two key pieces, the "dumbass" walks.

i have no idea, i thought it was strange as well, just giving a reason as to why he would have the number and not be at the location of the vehicle

A well-planned murder by a smart person doesn't result in the car being barely hidden on your property when you have a car crusher, a body being burned 20 ft from your front door in your yard, and then consenting to a search of the property.
But maybe we have different definitions of dumbass.

They wanted to have their cake and eat it too (pinning it both on Avery and Dassey).
Brendan's account of what happened was not substantiated in any way with the physical evidence. Not one iota. The fact that he's in jail is sickening. He might have been there at some point or been involved, but there's no proof at all, let alone beyond the shadow of a doubt.
Avery I'm not sure about, but it didn't go down the way the prosecution says it did. Most likely the murder happened somewhere else, he transported the body in the Rav4 (hence her blood in the back which makes zero sense if she was killed in the trailer/garage and burned just outside.
It may have even happened at the secondary burn site by Avery and Dassey. But there wasn't proof of that. I think she as burned at the second site, no doubt. You don't bring two scraps of bone if you are trying to dump the remains even if you're a half wit.
The lack of murder weapon (they determined she was shot because of the skull fracture, not buying that), lack of motive, and basic lack of all pertinent physical evidence with the story that they told was very telling and its why people are so up in arms.
