Guess I could be wrong. Just assumed there wouldn’t be power lines there.
Fortunately, part of that trail is mapped on Google Maps Streetview. A main junction that feeds the neighborhoods just to the west is visible from the trail. It is higher than the trail, and with the high winds that day a power line arc wouldn't be hard to see happening. It would'nt take a blown transformer or a downed line, necessarily.

Smoke n Scan was streaming live coverage when that person was dicking around the dam. It was odd when it happened live. I want to say they even caught it from a helicopter, I believe the video on his stream was aerial.

California's fire issues are directly related to the regulatory environment,
In the big picture, all of these disasters are precisely tied to regulations.
Whether it’s the Gulf Coast or California, there’s a history of rapid growth most often defined by celebrating that growth and its quick economic boosts while wishfully kicking the can regarding extremely expensive measures that could mitigate disasters.
If there were some hypothetical, non-political, Star Trek aliens that analyzed development and population growth in many areas, they would very likely point out things like “too much concrete in this area” “need to triple construction costs on these buildings to make them more wind/fire resistant” “will need 4x taxes raised and earmarked for infrastructural improvements/upkeep if you develop here” “this specific area needs to remain undeveloped due to earthquake, hurricane likelihood etc ” etc etc. . .
No one wants to hear that so they find a reason to dismiss it and kick the can.
Just for example, in Europe, they’ve been building the kind of fire resistant structures —like those ones you see still “miraculously” standing amid burnt out LA neighborhoods today— for generations but were only built in California after tighter regulations were very controversially (because they’re much more expensive) passed in a decade ago.

Absolutely. Natural products don’t burn black like that. Some set it with some kind of accelerant.

I read that the chaparral growth takes about 6-8 years between fires to become tinder again. Its seems simple removal of fuel sources would benefit these folks greatly.
Historically that area has burned multiple times, I dont see why people want to keep rebuilding where its not a matter of if, just when.

I’m not taking delight because average people lost their entire worlds. But to be honest it’s laughable how terrible Cali and even New Orleans democrat leaders are. Total and complete ineptness.
Also don’t come in here pretending liberals didn’t celebrate North Carolina or Florida or the assignation attempt. So take your high horse and shove up your arse.
