Good forecast and breakdown of the wind situation coming through the evening and into tomorrow.
The wind is the thing that is talked about, but this has been an incredibly long stretch of exceptionally dry air in place. What no one wants to see is any fires going up in other areas. That threat is significant.

Critical Forecast Santa Ana Tonight into Sunday afternoon. January 11 - 12,2025
On Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 9:20 AM PDT, there are two Santa Ana wind events approaching within the next 42 hours. The initial event is expected to arrive later tonight and continue into Sunday. According to the latest 12Z NAM 850 Mb and 925 mb, a moderate short wave is projected to move into interior Southern California just north of Death Valley by 4 AM on Sunday.
Regrettably, this will likely lead to an increase in wind speeds, with gusts reaching up to E/NE 45MPH - 55MPH. This heightened wind activity is anticipated to persist at least until 1 PM on Sunday for areas including Western San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, the majority of the San Fernando Valley, and some western sections of the #Eatonfire zone. Residents in these regions should remain vigilant.
Additionally, Orange County, as well as interior areas of San Bernardino, Riverside, and San Diego counties, can also expect gusts of similar intensity. These winds will result in humidity levels dropping from 0% to 5% across the region.

Still holding the line in the Mandeville Canyon, keeping it out of the main Brentwood area. As of an hour ago.

The following is an update from @UCLA:
"Our community’s safety and wellness is our top priority. The administration has requested that the Academic Senate approve extending remote instruction for undergraduate and graduate courses through Friday, January 17. The Academic Senate has approved. UCLA campus operations will continue to be modified during this time, as well."

Still a lot of erratic fire behavior going on.
And a follow-up:
That's a "fire tornado" that is often talked about on the OT.

Resources are being evacuated from the line above the spot fire, the fire is moving fast up in their direction and is posing a threat to the safety of firefighters in the area.

I am sorry all these people are losing their homes. I wish that on nobody.
I'm not upset they finally get to experience the incompetence they chose to govern them.
I always enjoy watching big city liberals experience the government they elected.

Are these fires anywhere near the Rose Bowl stadium?

No.
ETA: I take that back. The Eaton fire is close to it, but it has better control than the Palisades fire.

She was on camera saying all she has power is from the hydrant on. Anything below the hydrant is out of her power. So someone else is in charge of the water in the reservoirs

This is a bad spot on the northern edge of the fire with a large neighborhood to the west. Hopefully, the piece of shite didn't get anything started.

The Hurst fire seems to be fully contained with evacuation orders being lifted. That should free up at least some resources.

It appears as though it was firefighters who spotted the arson suspect.
ETA: The photo is of another area, not the area where the arsonist was.
