There's a Spirit flight that was heading to ATL from DFW that has been in a holding pattern over Alabama and now it appears that flight is heading back to DFW.
Spirit flight 606

There’s a Delta flight from Tucson to Atlanta that was doing the same thing, now it’s being diverted to Birmingham.

The NWS Birmingham office was directly in line with a tornado warning, so here they are in their safe room.

Their office is at the Shelby County Airport in Calera, right next to I-65. They had a pretty close call. While they were taking shelter, NWS Atlanta took over issuing warnings for our area.

If tweet fails to load, click here. While this system may not have reached the extreme level we thought it might reach, it has still caused a lot of tornadoes and damage.

Not sure yet. NWS will have to get out and survey before we know for sure. Someone else here may have an estimate, though.

That's a pretty comprehensive map, but I believe there are a couple more tornadoes to add that occurred in Georgia

God that's awful prayers to all but unfortunately, it was expected.

30+ dead is extreme enough. Glad it didn’t meet expectations.

Hoping for the safety of anyone involved with any late night tornadoes last night
This morning looks like the line of storms is a direct line from the gulf to north of Charlotte and causing huge issues with flights headed down to Florida. Orlando has at least 15 planes on the tarmac trying to determine flight plans around the storms for anything headed west/north west. The north east flights seem to be okay for now but I expect that to change as the storms move further east. Ground stop for flights headed to MCO until 10:30am and I'd bet that gets extended. Flightaware MCO . This Alaska flight from Orlando to Seattle has been taxiing for 2.5 hours and now needs to have a fuel stop in salt lake because they burned so much fuel waiting to take off AS 395. 8 hours from Orlando to Salt Lake...
Delays southbound to FL averaging 65 minutes as well FAA site
Going to be a long day of travel for those vacationers headed back from spring break in FL

Spann is the new target because he said NOAA cuts were stupid. You can already see it in other threads on this board.
He will eventually lose this fight simply because there are more retards than intelligent people willing to speak up.
It’s sad because he goes out of his way to temper expectations/threats and openly calls out people over-selling outbreaks.

Yeah, a couple of days ago Spann talked about how he tries to fight hyperbole. He was transparent about the fact that he doesn’t use the ominous language that he was using leading into yesterday very often.
People just think that if there aren’t 10 EF-4/EF-5 tornadoes or if there isn’t a tornado close to them, that nothing happened. Yes, this event wasn’t quite as bad as it could’ve been. However, there were still some very significant tornadoes, a lot of damage, and loss of life.

It got about as ominous as I've ever seen it yesterday here NE of Birmingham. The way the clouds moved, there was a sickly yellow tint outside at one point and swirling winds that hit 50mph at my local weather station. Even without specific warnings from TV weatherpeople, I went downstairs a couple of times when I could hear an exceptionally loud roaring of the wind coming across the mountain.
