Pretty incredible how pronounced the line of storms are and how little they're moving.

Yea, there is a stalled front that has just been sitting there. The ULL down in Mexico hasn't moved much today and that has resulted in a steady stream of deep tropical moisture getting pumped right over that front.

Some areas are moving into the "once in 100 year" type rainfall totals. It looks like some places are going to break all-time 2 day rainfall total records.

Currently, the models are kicking the system out to the N/NE. The higher rain totals look to mostly miss Bama and the FL Panhandle.

I don't follow the weather as closely as some people in here do, but this is the only place I've seen those massive rain projections for New Orleans.

Everything else I've seen doesn't seem so bad by comparison.

As of 5:00 pm, they were still going with nearly a foot of rain for areas just south of New Orleans.

Where can you find that kind of data for a given area? This is the best I could get:

From NWS New Orleans:

quote:

THROUGH THE DAYTIME HOURS ON SATURDAY...MUCH OF
THE LOCAL AREA COULD SEE 6 TO 10 INCHES OF RAIN WITH ISOLATED
TOTALS IN EXCESS OF A FOOT POSSIBLE.

Some perspective for the forecast rain totals. 2nd wettest March in NOLA had 12.17" for the MONTH. Current fcst is up to 12" in 2-3 DAYS.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I just haven't seen it.

Eta: I'm also working on positive energy to try to keep the rain totals down bc I'm going to be there this weekend

I see Northwestern State in Natchitoches is closed again tomorrow. Does Hwy 6 flood leading into campus? Or just around Town in General?
