Boeing keeps taking hits. They gonna be out of the commercial aircraft business before long.

Does Korea not have the arresting area that’s meant to stop this?

Yes. The containment fencing/ barrier. No landing gear, plane sliding on its belly until something stopped it.

The gear failed at some point, they likely knew this was the case before they attempted to land on their belly, and we're most likely running out of fuel.

Jeez, that thing was still moving very fast when it hit the end of the runway. Damn.

That’s what I was thinking why not have something that can ease the plane into a stop instead of a damn concrete barrier

I gotta think if they knew they would have came in as slow as possible. They were hauling serious arse when they ran out of real estate. Maybe I'm wrong and that just looked fast, but they were moving.

I'm no expert, but I think it's when birds strike the airplane.

The main way these airplanes slow down is disc brakes in the rear wheels, there are also air brakes (not sure how functional these would be landing on the belly), and reverse thrusters.

But the lack of landing gear really caused this.

It's also possible the pilots overshot the landing but with likely limited fuel, they had to put it down regardless.

I would have liked to see Where are the aircraft touchdown on the runway. Would it be better to do a short field landing so that you have maximum distance of runway available for the slide?

I thought this jet was designed to allow the gear to fall into place in case of hydraulic failure. Curious what the professional pilots will say about it

Also were there no alternate air fields with arresting systems or EMAS available?

There's a few really knowledgeable guys on YouTube that will detect this frame by frame, look at the preliminary report, etc.
