Only needs a few more shoe stores to complete the transition into the east bank black mall. They've got the baby clothes stores, immigrants running kiosks and most of the other businesses had closed. I walked through a week before Christmas after lunch at Zea's and the mall was EMPTY at 1 pm.
Also, Target would do well to admit their sales are down because of their social engineering finally and beg the public for forgiveness. They sell the same shite as Walmart with a smug attitude at a higher price. My wife asked me to get something from the clearview Target and I walked out quickly because they don't/can't afford to staff more than 3 cashiers during Christmas and the line is 20 deep.

Ponce City Market in ATL will be the future of "malls." Basically a converted warehouse with lofts, a really cool food court with diverse options, just the bare minimum of upscale shops, and other attractions. Its more about the experience than the shopping. Only way malls will be able to compete with online.

I'm surprised it took this long. As others have stated the Esplanade was the shite back in the day. But demographics shifted in that area and it's been on a steady decline even before Katrina.

Target has self-checkouts now, and for some reason nobody uses them. It is awesome to self-checkout while the suckers are waiting in line at a staffed checkout.

The Walmart self-checkouts suck. My complaint is that when I go thru the normal checkout it seems a 50/50 proposition that there will be a problem where the person has to turn on the light and call for help. If thats the way it is then I NEED THE REAL PERSON.

Belle Promenade
Galleria (always sucked as a mall though)
Clearview mall.
(+ those you mentioned) I think the East had a mall too.

My girlfriend went to the Esplanade mall earlier this week at around 1 and she said it was a ghost town. Felt like she got their before it opened.

I remember I once one a year's supply of chicken from Chick fil a for getting 1st place in a 4H competition, but only redeemable at the Belle Promenade. (1991, I was ten, I raised chickens in my garage and won Jefferson parish and got 12th in state in BR)
I never went there one time.

Clearview had failed and was resurrected. Then they banned people under 18 from being there without parents and it stopped being a kids hangout and started dying again.

SAMs self check-outs are the GOAT. I wish everyone had their system. A hand held scanner and easy to use interface.
It's the only thing Sams has over Costco.

Clearview has a terrible design (most stores face mall's interior) and it's location restricts access from most cars. Target is struggling, Sears is selling itself piecemeal and movie theaters are another dying business. The only stores with any activity are the external facing stores (Zea's, BBB) and they don't funnel you into the interior mall.
I understand the 18 and under rule now, keeping out trouble makers at movies is a big focus now, especially in Jefferson Parish. I was attending a movie after Christmas at the Elmwood palace recently and JPSO cleared out the entire movie theater during the show. When multiple police entered the exit doors and the main entrance at the same time, I thought we were all going to die until they hit the lights. They and the manager said they were shutting it down due to "security (gang?) concerns" and gave everyone vouchers for another movie. As it's a gun free zone, I'm never going back.

the biggest thing was going back to a place with a drive thru... frick that shite... those things ruin pharmacist's lives... i swear to god...
