No, it really isn't all that easy.

Calling it "mom jeans" was sure to piss off a group that is traditionally pretty vocal on social media.

I think it's all rubbish, as many of these faux outrage moments are, but they're often easily avoidable if you want to avoid them.

Other users on social media said the plates were “funny’ and asked if anyone had “a sense of humor anymore." “I can understand you not liking them. But why do you get to decide that 300 million other people don’t get that choice?

Hit the nail on the head.

What you call shaming, I call stating the obvious.

And the only eating disorder that I'm aware of is the one that results in someone eating massive amounts of carbs each day.

But isn’t that the point? Because of social media, a tiny percentage of people can twist anything into being controversial in 2019.

Yeah I'm not supporting the outrage, I'm just not stupid either.

These plates don't get pulled if the circles are labelled "lite", "just right", and "big", or something to that effect. Calling it mom jeans was sure to piss off people that make a sport out of bitching on social media.

Fat shaming needs to be embraced.

It is not healthy to be overweight and obesity is costing tax payers billions of dollars with the strain it puts on our healthcare system.

If you're on commercial insurance, go be fat and die, I don't care. But don't encourage or embrace it in others. It isn't beautiful. It isn't healthy.

Right. The bigger issue is that these types of things should be easy to spot coming. It's not that this plate OUGHT TO "trigger" anyone, just that you know that in 2019 it will trigger someone, and that someone will get a handful of Twitter idiots to agree with them and make ti seem as if the whole world agrees...and then get whatever it is shut down.

But slackster is right...anyone who stocked that should have either been prepared to argue with some dumbfrick about it, or not stock it. Being blindsided by that at this point is kind of hard to imagine.

Looking at the image, I'm surprised some coma rights group wasn't pissed too!

I understand the point. However, if we live our lives being afraid of any little thing that MIGHT trigger someone, we’ve already lost to that tiny minority who is dictating social constructs.

They are tacky plates but limiting portion size combined with exercise is far more effective and healthy than all these bullshite diet fads and pills.

(Full) "OT 10"

You're plenty smart enough to know people were going to be upset with the "mom jeans" label. Macy's can't claim to be surprised at this point, so you either defend it or you did it as a marketing stunt. I can't believe this was unintentional.

I wish just one of these companies would tell these people to shut their fat frickin mouths and mind their own business. If the plates don’t sell, that’s capitalism at work.

Rather than avoid them, people should ignore them. Eventually, they'll go away.

I am outraged that they are outraged and I am outraged that they did not take my outrage into consideration when removing said item due to the outrage from probably 2 or 3 people. Outrageous!

I agree with you 100%. Personally, I'd have stocked the plate and been prepared to fight about it...because I tend think that enough is enough with this shite. There are times when our 2019 eyes really ARE better and have identified some things which probably should be best left to the past. But if this continues to creep forward unchecked, we'll quickly get to the point where all speech will need to be shot through the filter of whichever group is currently in charge. Not ok with that in the least.
