Just heard this on CNBC

quote:

Macy’s vowed to remove a set of dinner plates from all stores after receiving backlash on social media from users who claimed the design promoted body shaming and eating disorders.

The plates in question show three circles meant to show portion size. The smallest circle says “skinny jeans,” the medium-sized circle says “favorite jeans,” and the largest circle says “mom jeans.”

Fat shaming needs to be embraced.

It is not healthy to be overweight and obesity is costing tax payers billions of dollars with the strain it puts on our healthcare system.

If you're on commercial insurance, go be fat and die, I don't care. But don't encourage or embrace it in others. It isn't beautiful. It isn't healthy.

Maybe fat people need to worry about what and how much they eat rather than what plates Macy's has in stock.

Those plates are trashy as hell though.

I bet every #TiredMama living that #MomLife who owns these things is overweight and is wrapped up in some MLM scheme

As long as everyone continues to cave, the “outrage” will continue.

Social media strikes again

When will a company have a spine and stand up to these lunatics?

While you may disagree, it's pretty easy to see why it would be controversial in 2019.

But isn’t that the point? Because of social media, a tiny percentage of people can twist anything into being controversial in 2019.

These plates looks hideous any way. I'm sure they weren't selling. I assume they were pulled to get their name in the news cycle.
