Stealing towels from a hotel is one thing, but taking the mattress is going way too far.

A new survey reveals that luxury hotels have to deal with guests stealing mattresses more often than anyone would’ve guessed. According to the survey, conducted by Wellness Heaven, a hotel and spa reviewer, five-star hotels are actually more likely to see large items go missing as opposed to smaller, easier-to-conceal items.

The nonscientific survey questioned 634 four-star hotels and 523 five-star hotels located primarily in Europe, WISC TV reports.

Wellness Heaven CEO Tassilo Keilmann spoke with many of the hotel owners and learned how guests can manage to steal something as large as a mattress.

According to Keilmann, guests will most likely attempt to take the mattress at night when the reception desk isn’t open.

The survey also revealed that the items guests will attempt to steal varies based on the quality of the hotel. While five-star hotels are more likely to find larger items (like televisions and coffee machines) gone missing, four-star hotels will see batteries and remotes seemingly carried off by guests.

And I thought I was a bad hotel guest for rubbing one out on the carpet and then rubbing it in.

I'd be willing to bet the mattress thefts are by the employees, not the guests.

How in the heck does one steal a huge mattress without being noticed? They solicit help from the bellhop?

That's where I get all my mattresses. Can't believe anyone would actually buy a mattress when they got tons at hotels.

Middle of the night when there is little staff, use side entrances, use fake information on check-in....I can see how it could be done.

That's the norm now for nice mattresses. It's Not just the fancy hotels that putting in nice beds in now as a partnership with a brand/model mattress. win win to sell more that way. Genius "try before you buy" strategy.
The Courtyard at Pecanland Mall in Monroe did this a few years ago. That mattress was amazing. But well over $2k or some shite outta my reach.

Before you steal it you need to shine a UV light on it.

So you can determine just how used it is.

That is either a drunken story to be told or someone just literally wanted to see if it was possible

Buy a veneer bag large enough to fit the mattress then hook up a 5cfm piston vacuum pump... profit.

I actually did this when we gave away a memory foam mattress to get it to fit in my wife's niece's car. I am a woodworker though so I had everything I needed to do it.

People who steal shite from hotel rooms are retarded.

They just bill the cost of whatever (plus like a 25% markup) to the card on file. Doesn't matter if it's a towel or a light bulb.

What does it take to realize this?
