are saying that physical therapists don't have specialties
I did not say that, what I said was

very interesting, and I doubt it
quote:
going to go to a PT who specializes in chiropractics
as there is no such thing, there are several board certified specialties that include orthopedics, neurology, oncology, etc APTA but no "chiropractics" and generally, but not always, the 2 professions do not play well together which is why I said "very interesting"

Who is doing the surgery

So basically you are just being a smart arse. There are PT's who specialize in treating patients with back problems so saying "chiropractics" is basically saying they are back specialists. Just because it is not listed under APTA does not mean there are not any that do it. Wife is currently in PT school and the president of the APTA is one of her professors who suggested to her that my dad goes to see one.

no

no, no, no... I assure you the PT in question would not like to be labeled as someone who specializes in "chiropractic" , and using the term Chiropractics is in no way the same as "back specialists

congratulations

Sharon Dunn, a very good friend of mine, ask your wife to see what she would say about a PT being a chiropractic specialist and if that is the same thing as being a "back specialist" and watch her cringe
but regardless, glad your father is doing well

I had a multi-level cervical fusion, and had lower back issues as well. My neurosurgeon said he won’t do lumbar fusions unless you lose control of your bowels or your legs. He said most surgeons do lumbar fusions for the money, but he was personally very anti-fusion on the lower back.

One of only 3 things will happen:
1: you will get better (temporarily)
2: nothing will change
3: you will feel worse
Within 5-8 years the segments above and below will deteriorate having done the work of the fused segments.

Excuse me for not being exactly precise with my statement. You could have not been a douche bag and said something like, "I think you mean back specialist instead of chiropractics." But instead you decide to be a smart arse and try to belittle someone because you claim to be THE authority on physical therapy. Congrats on being a douche.

My dad just had his L3/L4 and L4/L5 done about 2 months ago. Much better now, as he could barely walk before the surgery. Could only lay on his back or stand for the first 3-4 weeks after surgery and his only therapy was to walk as much as he could bare with pain from surgery. Couldn't drive at all for a month and then only around town for about 10 weeks before he was cleared to take off for work; he drives a TON for work. He still isn't cleared to pick anything heavy up yet and I'm pretty sure he won't be for a few more months. I'm fairly sure that he is going to go to a PT who specializes in chiropractics in order to strengthen the muscles around his spine in order to prevent any further problems. All in all he says it was the best decision he made for himself as he no longer has back pain (he still has a slight pain when getting up for sitting for long periods of time but he's still not fully healed yet) and is in good spirits.

I’m an MRI tech. Most people I scan say they are better. Some say they are worse. Depends on the Doc and how well you rehab and do what the doc says
How about a 2 level ACDF? Same experience?

Yep although the necks are usually a lot more sucsseful because they don’t take on all the weight and lifting like the lumbar does.

I don't have fibromyalgia. After 2 failed minimally invasive surgery's in 13 months, this is my next and last option.

you were plum wrong, not just

and that was me being nice, I responded, interesting, and I doubt it
reread the thread and you will see you are the only one being a douche with statements such a "are you an authority", you are saying "there is no such thing as PTs that specialize" "but my wife is in PT school", and "her professor is the APTA president"
I was belittling no one, but go ahead and play the victim if it makes you feel better
and I claimed to be "An authority" on PT not "THE" authority
now, take your arse whipping and go home and let the adults talk in here

You don't consider "interesting, and I doubt it," not a smart arse and douchy thing to say? Since you originally spoke with so much authority on the subject, why would I not ask? Don't back track and say you were being nice when you were clearly trying to appear to make yourself look smarter than someone you think knows nothing on the subject because I used "chiropractics" instead of "back specialists" as you would have preferred.
As far as the arse whipping goes, I don't think I've ever seen anyone get their arse whipped with words. However, if you would like I will gladly meet you at any Sonic you would like.

had C5 and C6 fused together about 12+ years ago. In the pass 5-6 months, the pain came back big time. Now everything above and below are screwed up big time. Waiting on a call now to set up a second Roid injection. First one help just a little and that has been 3+ weeks.
