White” simply refers to one’s skin tone. While “Black” is an identity based on the shared history and culture of a population. Hence the capitalization of “Black.”
Gotta keep that Democratic plantation running. All BBBlack people share the same identity! What a racist thing to say.

This is a scam that universities across the country adopted post-George Floyd to promote “equity” in higher education. From all accounts, it’s been a disaster. Harvard recently had to create a remedial math class because some of the students couldn’t do high school-level Algebra. And that’s Harvard. Imagine the geniuses LSU accepts these days.
My point exactly. But LSU is test optional moreso because they need the money and enrollment. Before going test optional, LSU's enrollment was on the struggle bus. So they say "equity" but of course it's all about the MONEY.
And for most Black kids going to LSU is a big deal because for many years most Black kids didn't have the scores to get in even though LSU standards have always been low compared to other flagship institutions. For most White kids, it's not that big of an accomplishment to get into LSU and a lot of them can afford options "bigger" than LSU.

I've got one up there. One visit and that was all it took. The IESB was only a year or so old when we visited.

That’s not true at all. The HBCU experience is vastly different to the PWI experience. I went to LSU, my brother went to FAMU. he absolutely loved it the same way people love Southern. I work with mostly black people that are making good money. All of their kids go to or went to Southern or other HBCU’s..
That may be true but it doesn't mean a lot of Black kids are not going to LSU. Like I said, I never seen so many Black kids at LSU in my life. And also a lot of Black kids transfer into LSU that maybe started at a Southern or FAMU. LSU is very popular among the Black middle class, like at the level of a HBCU. And I honestly get it. Most LSU students hang out at SU while still getting all the benefits of going to a major flagship state institution ... to them it's a win-win.

Anyone that could afford it, and had a lick of common sense, would pick LSU over any HBCU.
Most HBCUs are academically inferior, and that's not even debatable.

Because Tuskegee Institute is a few miles down the road in part.
That's not the reason. Auburn's test scores and GPA are too high for most Black students. Tuskegee is a private university which most Black kids can't afford, Auburn is actually a cheaper option. They go to Tuskegee and Alabama State because they are easier into get into and cultural reasons. Auburn don't yet have enough students of color for them to feel comfortable and like it there.

lol you’re not black but ok, and why is everyone always concerned about black. Asians ended DEI then tried to sue once their numbers went down.

White kids are choosing trade and specialty schools. They’re doing apprenticeships and going to work.
NPR recently did an entire show on this.
The other SEC schools don't seem to have much trouble growing or maintaining their white student population. LSU seems the be having the most trouble

Could the LSU system president being black have anything to do with it? Just seeing him as a representative of the school may have made a lot more consider LSU. I don’t have a problem with it at all, as long as the standards remain the same.

LSU will need to buy more scooters.

Just anecdotal but it seems most of the white kids with LSU alumni parents are attending out of state college from West St. Tammany high schools. And I see a lot of kids getting scholarships from Alabama. Alabama seems to recruit pretty aggressively here.

FWIW the sororities have black girls now, including the top tier ones. Don't know about the fraternities.

Yes, I’m in coastal MS and have seen this. Black kids here have never been interested in LSU, except that time Chris Jackson went there and kicked arse in basketball before joining the religion of peace. Recently, I’ve had two female black students, both from really strong SWAC family backgrounds (who usually remain true as legacies), and both who had free rides anywhere in MS or at USA in Mobile, choose LSU because of two reasons—the academic clout of LSU, within cultural vicinity to and interaction with Southern U peeps.
