I dont think there should ever be mask or capacity mandates forced by the govt

I was just correcting your statement.

I have less objection to LSU requiring the vaccine for in-person learning once it's FDA approved. Assuming the approval is for the age group that attends LSU. I don't see a problem with them not requiring it for students attending an entirely online curriculum either. Students don't have to attend LSU. They have a choice.

On the flip side, a government mandating this on the generation population leaves us with no choice. And I'm completely against that. It's far beyond the acceptable role of government IMO.

One more reason why my kids won't even be allowed to go to my wife and I's Alma Mater.

What parent picks what college their 18 year old is and isn't "allowed" to attend?

Waiting til FDA approval will be the standard everywhere

Like the FDA won't be pressured into approving at least one of these vaccines. No way in hell they say "Yeah, these vaccines that millions have already been injected with aren't up to our standards."

Why is this thread anchored? It’s very pertinent information and there’s nowhere else to put it.

That does it! I’m fed up. I’m sending my kids to a real institution. Southern University, here we come.

At the current rate, we'll be in a full blown desperate depression in 4yrs, so a college degree won't have much value.

Add it to the list of LSU mandated vaccines

For all of the others you can simply sign a waiver.

If that is the same policy for this one, I still don't care.

I signed a waiver every year.

The "mandate" for other vaccines is flimsy thin as all you have to do is sign a waiver/exemption form and you are good to go. It's more on the honor system type thing. They aren't keeping anyone off campus because they don't have a measles vaccine.

Do you realize that the ratio of vaccinated to unvaccinated hospitalized patients is starting to trend the wrong way?

The capacity mandates appear to reduce the spread of the virus, but it comes with massive unintended consequences that makes it not worth the cost. And that's only if you think the government should be allowed to do it. Which I don't.

The mask mandates are pure horse shite. They have proven effective in a narrow set of circumstances for brief encounters that are almost never replicated in reality. If you are sitting next to someone for hours (such as in class or at work) who is infected, you aren't any less likely to avoid infection if both of you are wearing masks.
