Reveille

quote:

Tailgating will still be suspended for Sept. 23, but will resume Sept. 30. The University will issue new Student Organization Tailgate Procedures. The new procedures will require all student organizations wishing to tailgate on the Parade Ground register on TigerLink, not provide common source alcohol, not have a tent larger than 10'x10', not have furniture of any kind and not set up before 8 a.m. on gameday.

Sounds like they are using a tragedy to enact some changes they wanted to do anyway.

No furniture?

Back to the old spot by the Pentagon eh chappy?

All this is gonna do is make the Greeks push out other people's tailgate sand take their spots. No way they agree to those bullshite regulations just to tailgate on the parade grounds when they can go elsewhere and back to normal

Having smaller tents and no furniture will no doubt curtail the binge drinking

Hurts the tailgating experience for the students and doesn't make them any safer at the same time. Nice work LSU.

That's exactly what this is, they've been wanting to enact these rules for years

Wow. Basically they just said frick Greek tailgates. If you can't set up til after 8 am, you've already lost your spot. And if there's no community alcohol, there's no point in a Greek tailgate. I feel sorry for the fraternities at this point, they just got fricked for something that a couple stupid Phi Delts did. Kick Phi Delt off campus and put the pledge warden in jail, but don't punish the other fraternities. This is about money, and LSU found the perfect opening

When I was there a couple of years ago the alcohol and furniture was already a rule so I'm not sure what that's about. Also what does furniture and the size of tents have to do with creating any kind of safer environment?

Nothing. It's something they've been wanting to do, so they used this as n excuse.

This alone will kill student tailgating on the parade grounds. Other groups will start moving in, the students will find somewhere else and nothing will have been solved.
