Should have been doing this 20 years ago. But it won't make a difference, as long as LSU hypes the ghetto culture amongst students, you're going to get this on and near campus.
LSU's culture is now like a public Baton Rouge high school. The LSU we knew and attended is finished and is never coming back.
Football needs recruits and the recruits are generally from a certain culture. So the program and the students hype that culture to keep the football team on top.
Also, this culture in public schools has changed and these kids are now at LSU. When I was a student, we loved us some Cash Money and No Limit. But we didn't act like we were in the music videos. We liked the music but still acted right. Now, all the kids are acting like they are in a rap music video and it's not going to change. LSU will never have the culture that it did in the past.

The little college I went to bought all the hood property around the campus. Since the houses were either empty or substandard, did not take as much money as you might think.
One guy I know put his clothes out to dry on a clothesline. His clothes were subsequently stolen off that line. A few weeks later, he passes some hood guys playing basketball, one of whom is wearing his "Mineola Country Club" shirt.

Haven’t visited LSU since 2011. I remember the area across that bridge being bad where the Walmart is, but outside of campus?
Come on….y’all exaggerate. No way it could spread that quickly to right outside campus gates.
I lived in Kirby smith before this. That side of campus has been ghetto for a long time.

they do this already with the land on the other side of Chimes? Look at the new band room complex and new apartments on that land.
Yes. Good work there. Need a little bit more buffer.

It's not as if LSU is going to leave a vacant field between campus and downtown.

A 10 foot high solid wall.
Would be pointless.
LSU, or LSU-friendly developers need to buy as much as possible and price-drive-the-frick people out of the area.

There have been multiple deadly shooting's right outside the North gates, in and around the state streets off of Highland Rd in recent years. It is bad and always was. The massacre of the Indian Ph.D. students in 2007 at the Edward Gay apartment complex is another prime example of how easy it is for tPOS to use Highland Rd to stalk, victimize, and kill.
