LSU really needs to do something about these foreign professors.

this one Asian finance professor I have has really enlightened me about this major flaw in the education system. She seems extremely knowledgeable about the material. However, I am currently one of 12 people in class this morning because no one can understand a word she says. Generally, I would drop the class and wait to get a better professor next semester, but this is my graduating semester so I cant do that

They don't care if you learn anything or if the class is interesting. They care about her research and scholarly articles.

It was awful when I was there. Can only imagine it's gotten worse. Can't decide if Asian or Indians are worse at communicating our language

This. She teaches only because she has to. She is there for research purposes.

Go complain to the Dean so you can be labeled RACIST and expelled from the University just hours short of your degree. Or not.

This is the reason why I dropped out of engineering. Its kind of hard to understand these concepts when the person teaching you doesn't have a good grasp of the English language, or when their accent is so thick they might was well be speaking Chinese.

This and then I get flashbacks every time I have to speak to one on a phone. Last time dealing with ATT, I had to hang up three times till I could finely speak to someone I could understand. Oh, over two hours at it.

Harry Mbella Mokeba needs to stick around, regardless of your problems deciphering Asian accents.

Whenever you don't understand her you need to stop her and ask her to clarify. You are paying a ton of money for the class so you have every right to.

Absolutely. I used to go inti with the same preconceived notions. I only had one teacher who was a real arse about it. He would ask you what didn't understand and make you feel stupid.

Some of my teachers didnt speak great English, but they were still great teachers, you just had to take the time to get used to their accent, ask questions, and visit their office.

I just realized today that she pronounces measure as major. I was trying to figure out wtf we could possibly be calculating the "major" of.

Also had one teacher, first day of class, he goes to board and writes

Sheet
______
shite

Says, I say these two words and they sound the sound. If you don't understand what I say, just ask. A nice ice breaker and made it much less awkward to ask when you couldn't understand what he was saying.

I've found Indian professors are a good bit better than their Chinese counter parts. My stat professor was a nice enough Chinese chick in her 30s, but couldn't even pronounce calculator. Class went from 60 people to 15ish in two weeks.

Though I'm sure this is true in some cases it certainly is not the norm. Individuals who do research do not do so out of self gain. They do said research to spread the wealth of knowledge.

I had a really Asian finance teacher that only taught how to do on the calculator. She did not know how to communicate examples that would connect with a American audience.

Any way I went to the TA and I learned more in 15 then I did all semester with here. Everyone is failing and she ends up having to make the count for your other test grades. So I got a 64, 75 and 70 on my three test then got an 87 on my final. So all my test grades were replaced with 87

Saved my life cause I needed a b to graduate and 85 was a b in that fricking class
