She can do it, but then you can sue her and LSU for violating your first amendment rights to free speech. She represents a public entity in her role as professor, that means she is bound by the Constitution and following it.

My speaking out would be what most people consider very moderate. I'm actually okay with LSU saying they are concerned for his safety and rescinding his admission. While I don't necessarily agree, I do understand.
But professors being able to decide what students they teach and don't teach based upon their own special set of criteria is a slippery fricking slope. Especially in today's times when supporting capitalism and conservative values gets you labeled a racist by the twitter mob.

She doesn't even need to drop you officially. If you don't like the grade she gives you at the end of the semester, arguments could be made that she carried out her personal vendetta against you because of your different political views. In the Twitter thread, they are instructing her to fail students instead of dropping them.
