At the least, taking money away from some of the lower performing schools *coughSUNOcough* could direct funds toward schools which actually show results.

The slices of the pie for each school tend to get bigger if you slice it into fewer pieces.

^^^This. I wouldn't trust Rebekah Gee to plan my kid's birthday party, much less manage the $14 billion DHH budget.

We have way too many schools. You don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about.

Regrdless of whether or not this is a fact, the general attitude in the state is that people don't want to pay another nickel for education. Everything is already "good enough".

Close some fricking schools, or sell one of them off to another system. This state is relatively small.
LSU doesn't need two medical schools.

I would be all for local 4 years every where if the economy and revenue supported it.

Right now La can't afford soap.

Yes. As a state we are not producing enough doctors to replace the one's we are losing.

You just need to make North LA choose to come South to the larger populations to go to medical school.

Well, since Shreveport serves more patients than New Orleans that is pretty contradictory.

I said the general attitude.

I get where it comes from, because every time there is added revenues, the crooked arse state politicians pilfer it, but it has created a terrible situation.

I will say this thread pops up every month and we all argue the same shite.

North LA -> Tech / Northwestern / ULM
Central LA -> LSU
South LA -> LSU / UNO / ULL

LSU means the Med School and any other specific school.

All the others would just have to either go away or reduce degree plans until the state can catch up.

New Orleans can't even educate all of its students in New Orleans (students go all over south LA) much less add on another 100.

Im arguing efficiency without compromising quality.

Less places to send resources allows the main posts to have the correct and necessary amount of resources.

It's not like voters in La will grow a pair and demand the La Constitution be rewritten. Yall keep voting the same blood suckers in.

Shut down Shreveport and the newly expanded Baton Rouge medical school operations and guess what LSU will have more money and the rural communities will still have the same number of physicians that they have now.

I mean, LSU really doesn't need to fund two medical schools. If you can't make the cut to get in the NOLA location, maybe you should take that as a sign.

LOL. You really have no idea of what you're talking about.
