LSU Parking Ticket

I received a ticket while parking on the LSU campus the other day after 4:30 PM. I thought anyone was allowed to park in any spot after 4:30 PM on the campus. Is this not true? Also, I am not a student, so would there be any kind of penalty or repercussions they could hit me with if I just decided not to pay? Thanks in advance.

There's still rules after four thirty. It doesn't just hit a certain time and the whole place descends into chaos. I hope you didn't set anything on fire thinking the arson rules don't apply after a certain time too.

Just make sure you don't get 3 tickets without paying and you're good.

You can park in any B or C lot after 4:30, but you still have to have a permit (visitor, student, etc).

Parking is open after 4:30 with an LSU Parking Pass. If you do not have one, you need to use a pay spot.

If you choose not to pay, beware of parking on campus. Nothing would suck worse than your car getting towed or booted while you are in a football game.

Ahhhh. I didn't know that. I thought it was open to anyone. My mistake. So is it necessary to pay the ticket since they can't hit me with it on my fee bill or anything?

I wouldn't pay it, but I don't know if that's safe advice or not

LSU Police will send you a ticket through the mail. After a period of nonpayment, they will send you another one to the address found on your vehicle registration.

On the back of the ticket there should be something about appeals. If you call and tell them you were a visitor and didn't know, they will remove it and you don't have to pay. Esp if you are not a student.

I got a ticket back in 2011 so I called to let them know I was a visitor and didn't know where to park. They said they would cancel it, but instead they reduced it to $50 (original $100). Needless to say, I never paid.
They still send me a bill every month asking for the $50. I figure pretty soon they will have wasted more on postage then the actual bill is for so let them keep sending them. I'm never in Baton Rouge so who cares.

$100
I would tell them to eff off. If it's a street meter, I would understand that they could possibly enforce it, but not a parking lot. I remember getting a few while in school. I would just call and say my roommate borrowed my car or something and they would take them off. But the fee was like $25 max. I still don't know how it would get on my fee bill since the vehicle was never registered with LSU and my name was not on the state registration.

What parking lot were you in?
If you're not a student you have 2 options
1) Just don't pay it, there's nothing they can do legally
2) File an appeal say you were visiting, act like you're from out of town and they'll throw it out.

As a visitor, you can park in any of the commuter lots before or after 4:30, they just want you to get a visitor tag from the visitor center. It's a pain to go get the tag, but it will keep the ticket off your car.
IMO, as a 2 time graduate of LSU who has paid them bookoo money, you should get an Alumni tag when you graduate so you can go park in a commuter lot when you have business to attend to at LSU. Not to use everyday, but I still go up there a couple times a year for stuff and it'd be nice to not have to deal with ticket threats or having to go to the visitor center.

Well, if you request a transcript 26 years later, USM will make you pay the ticket.

Bookoo is a phonetical spelling of the French word beaucoup, meaning "a lot or much"
As in merci beaucoup, "thank you very much"
So I paid bookoo money, or a lot of money.

Understood.
I would've accepted beau coup or beaucoup, but I assumed a 2x LSU grad wouldn't say "boo koo".
Just bored...
