LSU Move in Day Experiences

Just want to applaud whomever is in charge of move in day at LSU. Five years ago, we moved in our oldest and spent over 4 hours in line. It was a free for all.
Today, we moved in another child into the same dorm, and we were moving him in within 20 minutes of getting on campus. No stress.
Light years better experience today.

If you didn’t get shot, mugged or jacked, you should consider it a success.

I remember daughter #2 first move in day and she looked at us with sad eyes saying “I’m going to get lost, the campus is so big.” I reminded her she said the same thing her first day of middle school and she figured it out.
A week later she knew where everything was and we never heard that again. Good memories.

It does seem like they have their shite more organized than when they first started this.

Move in day at the Kirb was an experience.

I've been going to Walmarts in the area this week and the incoming talent this year seems primo

It was pretty well run. Hats off to the folks who had to stay out in that heat. I understand the need to drop your trash and move your vehicle but it is physically impossible to get it to the room in 15 minutes. Also blocking parking lots that go unused for the whole weekend is ridiculous.

A grown man being moved into a dorm by his parents?
What did he need help moving into a dorm? Clothes?
No real furniture had to be moved.

It's more for the parents, it's a big milestone. Next time it'll be "so long, see you at the semester break."

William Tate has done great for LSU since he has arrived

Or a chance for a dad to talk to his son about college experiences and turn the page into adulthood together
Sometimes the help isn’t physical, sorry you don’t see the value in that

You only had to unload your vehicle(s) in 15 minutes and then move the car so the next group could do the same. Then you moved everything to the room as quickly as possible.

Some kids actually like their parents and want them around for this experience.
People like you wouldn’t understand

Things are so different now. I got in my car with two suitcases and my parents said "see you in a couple of weeks" and I drove to Baton Rouge never having been to campus or having any idea where Power Dorm was at. Figured it all out without a phone or internet.
Kids need to learn some stuff independence.

Yeah no kidding. Those parents need to let go.
I moved myself into Broussard Hall in the fall of 1995. I had my own truck that I would keep on campus.
I saw Kevin Faulk move in. His parents weren’t there. Actually, he was the parent as he had two small children (in tow) already.

Moved one in last year and it was complete organized chaos. Lots of moving parts and whatnot, but all in all it was really smooth and easy. The only real issue was only having like 5 or 10 minutes to unload your vehicles before you had to move (although it wasn’t strictly enforced so it wasn’t as much of a problem as I expected).
