According to that article, it was started 11,000 years ago and didn't get to where it's at until 6,000 years ago. Some where, some time ago... Someone stated for the first time on that campus...
"It'll never be ready in time."

Are they off limits now?
Yep. LSU put an ugly arse fence all around them, and even the view is obstructed.

Those sacred Native American sites have been desecrated by thousands of drunken LSU fans. That usually stirs up bad consequences.

If true, that is as old as the Poverty Pint world heritage site in Delhi….shoul be named a UNESCO site as well!

Caddo Mounds State Park near Rusk, Texas, although only 1300 years old, is worth a stop if youre in the area. There are a few different mounds and interpretive signage that helps you see how the Caddo lived.

I wonder how many babies were conceived whilst "mounting the mounds".
I remember one (maybe the other too) had a firepit kind of hole on top. Don't remember ever hearing the dirt for one came from by the library.

I believe Mike the Tiger roamed those mounds around Thanksgiving ‘81 when some Tulane students liberated him.

Good Lord! It's getting ridiculous. The linked article refers to them as LSU Campus Mounds.
The term "Indian" never appears.

Maybe not, however there has been plenty of firewater consumed on them.

There is one (was) on a street off Hwy 42 in the Galvez community that was flattened when they built the road way back "in the day". Guess they just took a dozer and plowed it down and now it's just a slight hump in the road.
