re: LSU Freshman now required to live on campus.

Getting an apartment and buying your own food is way cheaper than living on campus. One of the reasons I moved out the dorm was to save money.

This is why spelling can matter. Of course, "freshman" is singular, "freshmen" is plural.

So I clicked on "LSU Freshman now required to live on campus" wondering why in hell a specific person is being required to live on campus while all the other freshmen aren't.

Turns out WBRZ doesn't know how to spell and this has a totally different meaning.

They had a similar rule at Troy when I was there. Of course my parents had this weird idea that all of their kids would live in a dorm for at least their freshman year. It was when I pointed out that we're required to buy a meal plan if we lived on campus that it drastically increased the true cost of living in a dorm that they relented. I was just outside of the radius to be exempted from it, so I just stuck it out for a year, but got an apartment after that for way cheaper. It didn't help that they had built new or renovated dorms for women but the old mens' freshmen dorm was 40 years old and horrible. Girls I knew from high school had nice bedrooms for 2 with a shared bath between them while the mens hall had 4 showers for 40+ guys on the hall.
