So if they received no funding cuts this year AND received the largest donor support in history, that means they actually are enjoying a budget surplus and will be just fine.

So will parking fines go down if they dont need the money?
Disclaimer: i havent been on campus during school hours in about 10 years so i have no clue how parking tickets are now. But when i was a student if you had a split second thought about parking illegally you magically had a ticket on your windshield. I actually got a ticket while i was in the car talking to an lsu facility service employee. fricking parking nazi put that shite on my car anyway.

nah i doubt that parking tickets go down.
they sure as hell dont have as many visitor parking spots like they did 10 years ago when i was in undergrad

I drove through campus this past weekend and was shocked at how much the school has changed since I graduated in 2009. I sure wish the school was as "broke" as it is now when I was in school!

Well most these gifts are for labs, infrastructure, endowed scholarships, etc.
It's not like there's $190 million sitting in a bank account for President Alexander to go on a shopping spree with.

No, and I wouldn't view receiving top of the line equipment for our geoscience and engineering departments as a bad thing.
If it could be monetized our administration would undoubtedly frick it up and hurt two of the more important departments

Yeah, I don't see it as a bad thing at all.
Just making the point that of the contributions almost 1/3rd seems like a made up number. I mean would this software company really get $62 million on the open market for their product(s) donated to LSU?

This is actually a very good point. Better to contribute hard assets than have the administration spend it on "conferences", "meetings", and "business expenses".

I would assume it works better that way for them when dealing with tax credits and its obviously a good thing for the university
