There have been a few Louisiana natives emigrate to Alabama and open a restaurant.

Almost every Cajun resturant in Birmingham is an LSU place. There's even a bar in Chelsea that you could go to if you're that far out.

Yes. And they still put too much cayenne pepper in their etouffee.

I've heard good things about this place, but haven't been yet. I need to go down there and see what it's about. With that said, I'm not sure what their game day setup is like.

While we are on the subject, what's the best venue in Bham to watch a football game? We are almost always watching the game at the house or my neighbor's house. I have an On Tap and Billy's near me, but rarely go.

Has the Walk On's at the corner of 280/119 opened yet? I seem to remember an initial opening date for August, but I guess they ran into some construction issues?

I don't know if you were being sarcastic or not, but I love right by the Nick in Highland Park, and yes, it is a great neighborhood. But yes, there is the Southtown projects basically right behind the Nick. No one has ever fricked with me though.

Seconded. I don't go there enough. Might go there tonight. Good folks working there too.

Like you, I'm almost always watching games at a house. But I'd imagine On Tap and Billy's is fine.

I think that Skycastle in Lakeview is a good place to watch football.

Moe's in Lakeview is solid, but its a younger crowd.

Saw's in Crestline? IDK. There really aren't a ton of great sports bars in Bham, oddly enough.

Only been there for lunch, and it doesn't seem like a great place to watch a game. It's pretty small. Basically in an old house. I only recall one TV in there.

Food is worth the visit though. Easily the best LA food in Birmingham.

I went once for lunch, in search of the Holy Grail great Po Boy in BHM. $18 for a shrimp po boy and sweet tea, and it was only slightly better than average.

To the OP, I'll be at Mom's Basement in Avondale. Free Corn Dogs!

No. Drove by it yesterday and they had a sign up that they were hiring, so they're pretty close. Still had some construction crews there it looked like. The Publix right there opens tomorrow.

Seems like they threw that Publix up in half the time it took them to build the Walk On's. They've been working on it forever.

Its definitely over-priced, but that's run of the mill for the area, and the supply isn't plenty for that type of food in Birmingham. Most of what I've had there has been great, but I've had one or two things there that I wasn't impressed with.

Mom's is fun, I'd watch a game there. But again, younger crowd. Kind of a weird mix of hipster and frat, but makes sense considering the area.

I wish the food was better there because it is a cool spot. Food is just a shade above awful though.

If it's nice outside, Avondale is a great place to watch football. Huge screens, plenty of room to move around, grab a pizza from Post Office or some BBQ from Saw's, bring your camp chair from home to sit in. Even better now that they serve beers other than just theirs. Wife and I have talked about going there Saturday for the game.

I like Paramount for watching football as well if you can get a table with a good view of the TVs.

Billy's in Mt Brook used to be fun way back in the day. Haven't been to the Liberty Park location.

I enjoy their food for the most part, but I will admit, I am pretty easy to please when it comes to eats.

I will say that their beer tap selection was pretty awesome when it first opened, but now its always the same, and sucks.

That does sound fun. Might do that for the MSU game next weekend. And when did they start serving other beers?? I didn't think that that was the case when I went for Greensky a few weeks ago, but I might have just not been paying attention. VERY welcome news if true.

I need to go here more. The grilled cheese dominates.

Closed. Landlord went up on the rent and ran them out. I can just about walk to the one at Liberty Park. It's not bad.

On Tap at Liberty Park has a great beer selection, but the food is marginal. They have a cool outdoor space there. Maybe I can swing by there this weekend since Auburn isn't playing.

Kind of excited about the Walk Ons place. There aren't many good game day venues around town. Strange that a college sports town like Bham doesn't have a great venue for game day. I guess everyone is either at the game or watching at home?

It was right around that concert. May have started right after it. I know my friend that went said he drank their seltzer for that concert, so it must have been after it. I was only there for an hour or so a couple of Saturdays ago, and I only recall seeing 3 or 4 taps of non-Avondale beers.

Cajun Boys is pretty good. They've been coming on strong while Cajun Steamer has been slipping.
