Tell your kid to stay away from dead presidents. Problem solved.

The LSU parents page on Facebook is fixing to go crazy.

This has nothing to do with...

Campus is very safe. Police constantly are present at all hours, and if you ever call LSU pd, they are almost instantaneous.

Now the area immediately around campus is 180’ the other way. Expect your stuff to get stolen in some or fashion once.

Did they ever get rid of the muggers that used to hang out in the trees and bushes behind the Amphitheater?

I acknowledge that people in general, and parents in particular, tend towards the irrational.

The campus itself is very safe, but I do think LSU should have flexed its political and financial muscles over the years to get the areas around campus cleaned up and developed better.

There is no reason for there to be shitty neighborhoods right next to LSU. The areas around campus SHOULD be some of the most prime real estate in Baton Rouge, but poor planning and LSU's nonchalant attitude over the years led to ghettos on the doorstep of campus.

Be specific. What do you want them to do? What is so scary on campus???

They're way too late, but this is starting to happen.

It's pretty hard to police an entire campus. Especially when that campus is a block away from the hood (north campus dr.). I know they have LSUPD sitting around near or by resident halls usually (least when i was there). And there's an abundance of police forces at sporting and non sporting events.

Not sure why LSU hasn’t put a giant fence along the entire ghetto side of campus. Make people pass through a few points of entry like Highland, Chimes, Nicholson and monitor those areas via video. It would go a long ways toward making it difficult for burglars and robbers to access campus from the ghetto.
